I did go out today, but only locally. Same here, bikes everywhere, I think they are panicking it's the last sunny day of the year.

Smooth as a cashmere codpiece.

It took me a while to pronounce Cross Hands, at least it did without doing the action and nearly crashing the bike. -
I know, it's fascinating hearing other peoples' stories, not often they get written down. I had a meeting with residents in Mile End Place many years ago, something to do with traffic calming I think. The wall at the end of the street is part of the boundary wall of a very old Jewish cemetery. In use from 1697 to 1852. I was told that the descendants of the buried visit from all over the world and whilst trying to find the entrance they sometimes end up in Mile End Place, the real very small gate is 3 streets away. He said they sometimes run up and down praying due to some sort of time contraint, not sure if that is true or not. My then boss said what the street needed was Jew calming rather than traffic calming. This is the same boss who attended a meeting with the Buddhists and the owners of a vegetarian restaurant whilst eating a bacon roll.

Uncle Harry came back from the Boer War when he was not allowed to sleep with the other boys. For reasons left unexplained, he was banished to the front room and told he had better get married sharpish – which he did. Another cracker. Mile End Place is still there, I know it well. In the late 80s I had to a street light scout in the area every 2 weeks and I learnt early on to park in Mile End Road and walk in, because if the lights were out you couldn't see to turn the car around without taking out a garden wall. Spin round to see the covered entrance. https://goo.gl/maps/ZX54kF36Nw66iMgcA https://spitalfieldslife.com/2022/09/22/at-mile-end-place-x/

I forgot to mention, I bought a book when i was inside the church, they had a cardboard box to put the money as no one was in there. Things I leant from the book that I thought was interesting:- When they hollowed out the tree in the very early 1800s to make a meeting room inside, they found a cannon ball believed to have been fired during the civil war (the real civil war, not a later copy). The last vicar died in 1983. Since then they have shared a vicar with a few other churches. This last proper vicar studied engineering at Oxford University before WW2, then joined up and took up defusing bombs for the duration, then he returned to Oxford university to study divinity and became a vicar. Tree experts believe the tree has only another 50 years life left due to damage caused by the hollowing out in 1803.

You git, I went and looked at the book to see the author's name and then realised what you meant.

You'll have hurt their feelings.

No idea. I was only there a few hours. I saw lots of Portaloos, but they all seemed to be inside a fenced off area, so not sure how people coped. Having said that, it was very relaxed, everyone was well behaved. I was a bit shocked at the rusty evil looking spikes on top of the wall around the Buck House gardens as we walked away from the area. You couldn't put those up now on a new build.

Blackie. The last Spitalfields Market Cat https://spitalfieldslife.com/2022/09/18/blackie-the-last-spitalfields-market-cat-o/ I remember the last days of the market. The raod and footway would be slick with slippery squashed fruit and vegetables. Tramps would sit around burning pallets and banana boxes in the middle of the road (9it does the asphalt no good you know). I got chased by one tramp with a broken bottle in his hand once. My FJ1200 had something wrong with it at the time, the starter motor kept sticking. After I ran to it and threw myself on it, It took me two attempts to start it as he ran screaming at me. When it did start I think I left rubber on the road as I wheel span off just out of his reach.

Large Lenor fabric conditioner bottle, essential camping equipment. Plenty of capacity, a large neck and a watertight lid.

I went and saw the flowers near Buckingham Palace this afternoon, not something I would have done given a choice but my friends wanted to go and chuck some on, so I thought I'd show willing. The flower bit was easy, getting back out of the area was more difficult. I didn't even know we had that many people in the country, let alone central London. Someone was strangling a Scottish Octopus by the sound of it as we came out of the station and walked into Green Park. I saw a Portaloo tucked away out of sight in Green Park. At my age, you never miss the chance for a wee so I walked around this clump of trees only to have the following rise and fall of emotions. 1/ Aha a toilet, joy to the world. 2/ Oh wo is me, for it has a padlock holding the door shut. Fuckmine! 3/ But wait, what light through yonder bollock shines? Tis an FB padlock, verily do I not have an FB key attached to my work ID pass which be in my rucksack? Surely my luck is in forsooth. 4/ Cursed be the toilet bastards, for mine own key tis an FB14 and though it fits, a pox be upon it, it does not turn! I must tieth a knot in it....... So I got behind a large pair of rozzers who barged through the crowds and had a wee in a pub next to Victoria station.

I am not a believer in god, I would not usually mention that unless asked though, I think everyone should have their own beliefs and not try and convince others that theirs is the only way. I think behaving decently is mostly common sense, you know when you are doing something wrong usually, you shouldn't need to follow a strange list of instructions from an old book written in a hot environment and then retranslated over and over again.

Saw this in my odd places book (like the one Bob bought, but for the civilised counties) but didn't tell my mate where were going, just that it wasn't too far. He lacks my love for old trees or church yards. Supposedly the oldest Yew tree in England, I have seen estimate of 4,000 years, but also only 1500 years. I climbed inside, the odd looking pictures are of me looking upward. I went inside the church, it was stunningly beautiful inside, painted walls. There was a picture of the Queen and a book of remembrance for her so I filled that out. My mate sat outside, he fears the inside of holy places. The weird well with the conical thatched roof is near where I live, I keep meaning to stop and take a picture every time I go past. Today I tried but discovered there is a deep nettle filled ditch on the road side and a big hedge stopping me getting any closer or looking down it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crowhurst,_East_Sussex

I used to put new ones in with each tyre change on my AT and keep the one removed as a spare for puncture replacement rather than patching the tube that was damaged. That way my spare was only slightly older than the one in the tyre.

My pressures change with the weather, not just air temperature, but air pressure as well. This usually shows as both front and rear changing at the same time with a bigger change on the front which has a smaller volume. If I am always pumping the same one up then it is usually a valve (or rim problem for tubeless). BUT, I have had a few tubes rust where the valve joins the rubber part and then leak very slowly there.

At the moment. Reading the link below reminds me, we never found our dustbin after the hurricane in 87, so he's asking for a postal gift. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Fish
