  1. Strengthening the core muscles that surround your spine will protect you from strains n other nasties like slip discs. Tango might’ve been taking the piss a wee bit but he was also spot on. Sad how many people end up in surgery cos they got a cold and the coughing was enough to cause structural damage. Then cos they’re generally not the exercising type they don’t recover properly from the surgery either. Fractured neck of femur and slip disc, the two finishers of active life. Glad yours is just a strain but forewarned n all that.
  2. I’d put money on him never having been near a religious establishment
  3. Flying saucers. Forgot about them. Used to love them. Parma violets I never bought but always had at Christmas because they were the sweets left over in the variety box that no-one else wanted so I have soft spot for those chalky perfumed lilac discs. I’m with Saul on the caramac, it’s one of the few I still buy along with bournville chocolate. Always think yuk this is too sweet but then buy it again anyway Used to love space dust and those little cardboard dice filled with powder. From the icecream van I liked those plastic cones that looked like upside down Darleks with the ball of chewing gum in the bottom. I think they were called screwballs? Woolworths was the best place for pick and mix.
  4. They only mastered nitrate free cured meat in the last two or three years so unless it’s declared nitrate free it’s not. I’ve cured my own meat and fish so have an understanding of the chemicals you can use to denature proteins. Your meat is cured with saltpeter (saltpetre) which is a traditional curing process that is thousands of years old. Saltpeter is a nitrate. A highly toxic substance that is now rated up with smoking due to its carcinogenic effects. Look it up, you’re eating the same nasty stuff as the brits
  5. In the UK ham is any cured hind pork cut you then cook. 'Cured meat' is from any area drenched in awful sulphites presenting itself as antipasti.
  6. lol explaining gammon to gammons
  7. 'Cured pork' would be a better approach. Cured ham is HAM and that needs boiling to death or slicing into gammon portions and frying otherwise the worms will make you blind ... or die
  8. ps I don't mean anything that entices the OP into your vestry.
  9. What are your favourite childhood sweets and what childish sweets do you like now?
  10. Love hate relationship with them. I know they're crap, if sweet old ladies were compressed into sugary discs of powder this is what would make a Parma Violet and yet somehow like disgusting Turkish Delight I will voluntarily put that perfumey crap in my gob again at some point hoping for a different level of joy. For a super concentrated powdery sugar fix I prefer swizzles love hearts. I last had those over 10 years ago so in the main.. no thanks. Hmm this has peaked my curiosity. New thread arriving.
  11. Sounds lovely. I hate walking but I'd walk that! Adding the rowing machine back into the mix with the yoga tomoz. Think it will be so horrible I'll wish I walked
  12. You were bloody missed. Nearly gave up, these curmudgeonly ol' bastards lack of sunny dispositions is very apparent when you're not about

  22. Difficult with a family to keep the spaghetti under control. Cable charging box https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B091KKYSM8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And table charger if your watch/EarPods/phone can charge wirelessly (somewhere else like accessible on the kitchen table). https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B099RMY971/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Has saved me a lot of pain and the arguments about who's taken who's lead stopped!
  23. Paramount+ or you can pay for it on Amazon (the UK doesn't have HBO).
