  1. Sounds like it’s just as well your wife came along
  2. I have too many bikes said no-one ever seems applicable here.
  3. Well Pedro you’ve gone n started something now. You and Clive have made me (yes made me) go and buy a load of herbs and I don’t know what I’m doing so shortly you could have a lot of plant death on your hands Went with- Thymus 'Archer's Gold' Thyme Sage Coriander Mint Parsley (Flat leaved) Chives Oregano Wasabi Rocket Dill Tarragon and two edible flowers for prettier dishes - Cornflower Geranium called Splish splash. Some are seeds some are litre pots ready for planting. As I’m well known for killing plants and it’s slug n snail heaven round here I’m not optimistic but you never know they say they’re hardy but will they be hard enough?!
  4. No I don’t remember those at all Same here, food used to be very restricted to a traditional meat and two veg style because people ate the same thing over and over again, I remember my mum making spag bol and my Dad declaring he would not be eating spaghetti again which he did because we loved it. It exploded into taking in any cuisine from any culture to be the marvellous melting pot it is today. I think we have Curry houses and Chinese takeaways to thank for breaking that straight jacket and all those diabolical cafes and mediocre restaurants for fuelling the desire to take on dishes from around the world. Oh and not forgetting all those travel cooking progs, they did a huge amount to get everyone interested in food and demanding better quality. The foods scene in the UK now is so good. Theres almost no ingredient for any nationalities dishes I can’t buy in a bog standard supermarket in the UK and everything else is available online. That is one thing I miss in Spain, they have nice little speciality shops but always traditional ingredients and of course I immediately start craving the very thing I can’t get within a week of arriving, usually chinese
  5. Its been pissing down everyday since the beginning of December. Don’t want to jinx it but have you had a look at next week? Looks like theres a wee chance of a dry day
  6. I’ve had to have a rethink as I somehow conveniently glossed over the bit where I’m not going to be here to look after them. Am ordering some hardy herbs (that can survive neglect) that I use a lot of in the kitchen. I resent paying stupid money for those little packets of poor quality supermarket herbs so that should satisfy the green fingers, my wallet and my palate
  7. So you’re not up for the free-fall into oblivion then?
  8. I chucked out the food rules long ago when I woke up at 5am once and fancied a pie. I’m sure it’s healthier for you to eat what you fancy when you fancy it. Well unless it’s the persons a heffalump
  9. Very pretty. The poppies were out of stock on the Thompson-Morgan site. I’ll try there
  10. Hmm what espionage were you partaking in visiting the opposition on the 15th Dec?
  11. Are you on strong painkillers for your back cos you do say some weird shit I must be fucking thick too because I wouldn’t have thought about it Then again I wouldn’t want that stuff messing with my algorithms so you’re pretty safe
  12. It very much depends on what you have. If you have the flu strain they vaccinated against it would make a huge difference, if you have another strain then it would still offer some reduction in symptoms because your immune system would be faster to act. It’s hard to know who’s actually had the flu jab and gone on to have this flu thats going around, theres no compare n contrast going on. If you recently had Covid the chances of another bout of Covid flooring you like this are unlikely because your immune system is already primed to act against anything that looks like Covid, a different Covid variant would be expected to cause symptoms but not to the extent you’re describing. I’d put my money on flu. Back pain is one of the types of pain that seems to cut through everything, movement obviously but also sleep, good humour and just about every daily activity is affected so I hope you feel better soon.
  13. On the Thompson website as we speak!
  14. When were you last jabbed and did you get the flu jab at the same time?
  15. Thanks Clive. Might order myself some seeds this afternoon
  16. Happy Sunday First sunday with just me and Mr Slowly in the house for a long time. Going to make the most of it by doing a lazy roasted tray bake and watching TV. Might try and finish the design for the chair covers or might do bugger all for the rest of the day
  17. No worries, it’s a forum getting a reply at any point is a win I love them, might get myself some. Would they grow in the shade? It’s just the sunny areas here are completely exposed to the elements and being near the sea that makes for strong winds.
  18. Lol it was the bird with the dick in the jokes thread. I thought he/she was rather impressive, if perhaps photoshopped beyond belief
  19. @Earache Quite happy with the first session considering I’ve never used any of the tools (apart from scissors) before, so the base is nearly ready. Started off with a layer of nylon with foam attached that crumbled to a choking dust when you touched it, rubber webbing that had degraded to the point of disintegration and some bizarre packing tape repair which only farmer genetics would consider ok oh and so many awful staples. New webbing, a layer of hessian and some recycled felt, just one more layer before tackling the big stuff.
  20. A cobbled together with bailer twine, duct tape jalopy driver who could afford a thousand jags more like
