That doesn't surprise me at all. I will say that they are tough little bikes in general given the amount of times Shadow has chucked hers down the road and the things she has hit. The finish on it is pretty good especially the paint, although I do wonder about its mechanical longevity. I suppose this thread will run and we shall see.

When my boy had one we experienced one of the common faults which was crack in the clutch basket cog. Dealer told me the engines were made in India.

A movie about an old sailor’s lazy slow end. Watch it quietly with a drink, it’s quite something even if sad.

Problem is that particular bike was assembled in Italy and while is says it was made in Italy, I'm pretty sure that parts are not. I think that bike is assembled all over the world but I wouldn't mind betting that the majority of the parts are from chinese manufacturers. I had quite a chat with the chap who fixed it and he said that even though these bikes are pretty reliable the quality isn't what it used to be. He also thought the service intervals are to big for a small air cooled motor. 4K miles between services which I am going to cut in half from now on. One point he did make was that at least you can still get parts for Japanese brands whereas it's often not possible to get them for chinese brands, so the ongoing support is there for japanese stuff and that is better than most chinese stuff. Also to bear in mind it Shadow has thrashed to tits of this thing for 15k miles whereas many chinky 125s don't actually make it that far. So you are right is the short answer.

1 Corinthians, Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, not moose fondlers, nor midgets, will inherit the kingdom of God.

The culprit. There is a noticeable notch in the cam follower bearing. All working well now motor sounding sweet and not to horrendous a bill in fact I think it was very reasonable as he has a cash rate
