The Atwell-Wilson motor museum

I had a pass out today and the weather was taking a slight pause between storms so I had a look at the forecast to see which direction to go.  East looked best so off to  Wiltshire but where should I go ?

On the far side of Calne I've passed a 'Motor Museum' sign countless times so a quick look on the net confirmed that it was open.  It took about an hour to get there and probably because of the shitty weather it turned out that I had the place to myself.

This couple are the original owners, unfortunately they've both passed on now so the museum is governed by a trust.............

and this car was the first one to enter their collection which eventually became the museum, it's a 1937 Buick Albermarle..............

Then we went from the sublime to the ridiculous,  a superb Toyota Celica ST2000 and an even better (imo) Opel Manta

This Mini was unusual in that it didn't have a conventional gearbox , just some torque converter arrangement that gave a forward and reverse gear. It was supposedly Alec Issigonis's own car ...............

It was looking really threatening as I approached Batheaston so I stopped at a cafe to get a bite to eat.  Fecking £10.70 for a bacon ciabatta and a coffee 🥹  I took revenge by taking a very smelly dump in their toilets before I left .
