Saul
Just heard back from the guy who is doing my valve check. All well within spec and reckons they have probably been checked before so that is good news. Something less to worry about
Saul
Picked up my CBF from the valve check last night. Talking to the chap in detail and he reckoned all but one of the valves were spot on in spec. I asked if he thought they had been checked recently and he wasn’t sure if the valve cover had ever been off . I said is that unusual and he said it’s Japanese and that he thought this era lower tuned Honda 600 fours were just that well built. Also that if looked after they will run to 100k or more. Don’t know if I will put another 64k on the bike but reassuring to hear. Looks like I was paranoid about the valve clearances after all but at least I know now.

My bike went to 120000km without the valves changing. It's quite common nowadays. They were cleaned and had the seats replaced before needing adjustment

Saul
Well after much polava the bike is now finished. The second set of fork seals I fitted also leaked and to be honest I sort of knew they were going to the stanchions were just to rough. So I bit the bullet and ordered new stanchions, bushes, oil and a third set of fork seals. Spent several hours fitting it all today. Dry so far but to be honest I will be completely flabbergasted if they leak now it is practically all new out of the box. Hopefully I won't have to touch much until the next oil service now in 5000 miles time. I was going to use my hydraulic cable oiler to do all the cables today but ran out of will in the end. Especially when I managed to blow a fuse changing a sidelight bulb. And guess what I have hundreds of fuses except for the right one for my fucking bike. Off to ebay in a minute. Will have another tinker around tomorrow to button everything up then thinking about a trip to Sammy Millers later in the week, maybe.
