I think it must vary according to the insurance the dealership hold. I rode an MT09 and MT10 no problem at one, a speed triple at another but the Honda said no (6pts). In fairness they did call their insurers to try to swing it but computer says no. I don’t have any problem with that, after all it’s my own fault for having the points. I did really like the look of the Honda and it was a good fit but I am not going to buy a bike I can’t try. I have 1 and a bit years till they expire and I can’t wait. First time in my life I’ve ever had 6 ( and I had zero for 10+ years before these) and it’s a pain in the bum.

It was a 21 plate. I’m pretty tall so feel a bit cramped on some but this felt ok. Bloody annoying I couldn’t try it.

I’ve just acquired an MT09, and was seriously considering a CBR1000. Really nice bike but the dealership wouldn’t let me test drive the one I was interested in as I have a few points on my licence The 125 was a nice bike but I only used it once every few months to keep everything working. My wife was initially enthusiastic about doing her CBT but as with many things, never got around to it. I have aspirations of a third bike, possibly another Indian, and lack of garage space dictated the 125 had to go…

Used to have, it’s gone now. it was a 125 I kept as my wife was making CBT noises, but never got round to it so flogged it.

I was collecting something today from a shop in Dorset and I actually saw another one, very rare occurrence. It was a 19 and looked like it had a tough life … but it still looked good, even with all the age related dings. When they first appeared they had asymmetric wheels, bigger front than rear with a slightly higher seat height and I think they look better that way, even tho ( reportedly) the handling suffered due to limited tyre choice. Mine is a 22 “s” so not the highest spec with ohlins front and back but I really love it. It’s not super refined and smooth like a jap bike, the engine is a twin, 600cc per pot and vibratey at various revs, the bloody phone interface is kind of crap but it’s great fun. Goes like stink, loads of torque and sounds great. The only thing I’d change is adding a quick shifter. I’ll see if I can find a half decent photo…

Most fun bike I have owned & can’t see myself ever selling it.
  8. I have a Gerbing heater under jacket thing which actually works pretty well. Keeps body and arms nice and warm although as with any heated kit plugging it in and remembering it’s connected when you get off is a pain in the arse. The only drawback is the size/ volume of the controller and all the cabling and crap that goes with it and having to try to cram it all in a pocket.
  9. It amazes me that in a car park crammed with metal boxes full of petrol and batteries that there was no fire suppression system, or maybe it just didn’t work…?
  10. I wonder how many minutes that would last parked outside someone’s office in London before it’s nicked…
  11. I don’t want to turn this into a Brexit thread but lucky you if you have residency in the EU. About half my close friendship group have managed to get EU passports / residency but sadly I can’t. I could live in the US but not sure that I want to do that with the way things are going over there, although the weather would be perfect for my other obsession, a superformance or backdraft cobra
  12. I love Finland, love the people the culture and the amazing beauty of the place. But for bloody Brexit I’d have retired there. The language is a bastard to learn tho. Kiitos paljon Xtreme, great thread.

The range is about 100-110 miles/tank. It is a pain in the arse, but I’m not touring so it’s a minor pain. …but I was riding with a guy who had a beautiful Ducati Panigale yesterday, his range was even less … and no fuel gauge…

There is Moore Speed Racing ( or something like that) in Poole who stock them, bit pricy though.

I have a 2022 “S” and absolutely love it. Puts a smile on my face every time I take it out. If you want something refined and silky smooth it won’t be for you, but I find it great fun and can’t see myself every getting rid of it.
  17. Never understood the appeal of those three wheel things, all the disadvantages of both cars and bikes and none of the advantages of either.

    Bastards

I was in Iceland a few weeks ago, spent a few days touring round looking at things including glaciers. There are a few big permanent ice cap type things with various glaciers passing down through surrounding mountains from them. I cannot recall the exact distances but guides told us that those that we saw were now several kilometres shorter than they were a few years back. It's not proof of climate change but it would seem to indicate that something is happening. Im not interested in getting into an argument about the pro's/cons of it, just my 2 cents.
  19. I have a Cardo, works very well for sat nav, music etc. Not really tried it on bike to bike. It mounts to the outside of the helmet and is easy to detach to charge. Buttons are fiddly with gloves to the point where if I press the wrong thing and stuff it up I have to stop to get sat nav working again. Does have voice control but I’m to inept to use that.
  20. It appears we can’t anyway, even tho you haven’t…

Ok thanks, prob best to err on the side of caution given the cost of a new phone…

    Phone mount

Is it just iPhones which are destroyed by vibration or is it advisable to have some sort of isolation for all phones?

    Hello

Thanks for the welcome. One wheel is an EUC - This is a random clip I found on YouTube, not video of me. I just bumble around my village as it’s a practical way of getting to the shops. Used to use it for travelling around London but as they have become more popular and some people ride like idiots plod are more proactive in stopping people and I can’t risk 6 points. They do go pretty quick but I think you’d have to be clinically insane to do 60 on one. I got into bikes when my wife said she was going to do the CBT and I went along to keep her company. She didn’t take to it but I did. I’ve had a few mental/odd cars ( still do) and this is just the logical progression. Plus my brother and a few friends have bikes, and they are great fun.

    Hello

Hi all, I’m relatively new to two wheels. Long time on 4 and even a few years on one, no one told me two was such fun…
