  1. Got home from work after a night shift this morning but wasn’t that tired so decided to make the most of the weather and go for a bit of a bimble. I traveled out through St Austell then Sticker to turn onto the Roseland. I tend not to go there that often and I can’t think of any good reason not to, Tis a beautiful place. The first stunning village you come to is Tregony, I get dragged down there to their Heavy Horse show every year but I don’t mind at all, although I may protest. Out of Tregony takes you through several smaller villages with some cracking names like Reskivers and Ruan Lanihorne. Onto St Just in Roseland not to be confused with St Just in Penwith where Jethro comes from, and past the sign post for the King Harry Ferry. I was hoping to get a photo as it had been recently altered to the Spare Harry Ferry but some humourless soul had changed it back so I didn’t bother. Several more small villages and some really muddy salty roads brought me to the millionaires playground of St Mawes on the Carrick Rodes across from Falmouth. A simply stunning little town as long as you don’t look at the property prices. Went there pilot gig racing many times in my misspent youth. Had the briefest look at the Castle then rode back to Portscatho. Another beautiful place, I remembered singing there, probably 12 years ago, in a lovely little chapel right down by the sea. I was sad to see it is being converted into another luxury residence, another community centre gone. After that is was time to travel home. Did 45 miles and made a mental note to go back soon when the roads are clearer and get some better photos.
  2. I have just been sitting here thinking the same thing.
  3. It's not so bad, depends what you are doing really. I get quite a bit more free time than most as the shifts are long so you work less days.
  4. Sitting here quietly waiting for my shift to end. Been a good weekend of working with two Clinicians I get on well with. All the jobs we have been out to have been what feel like proper use of our services. End of life patients, blocked catheters, etc etc. No Holibobs with their selfish time wasting silliness this time of year. Even managed the odd Costa and even a Wild Bean. When it’s like this my job is good. Home to bed in an hour
  5. Work in a slaughter house. I used to play rugby with two guys who did, they weren't normal. Wether it was the work that attracted weird people or the work made them weird but it is something I could never do. I know I am like most and a hypocrite because I eat meat but if I had to kill and clean it myself I wouldn't. I remember my dad helping out on my uncles smallholding and them slaughtering stuff. Seemed normal when we were kids, seems horrific now.
  6. I have thought about that mate but I have always had a decent openface in the past and do prefer them for local stuff. It's the goggles option I want to learn more about but I thought I would ask here first hand experience would be better than the never ending stream of 'Aren't these great videos on YouTube'.
  7. I am thinking of getting an open face with goggles for my everyday use. I am a speccy twat which is part of the reason I want to go that route. I fancy a plain piss pot Arai or Shoei, or even a Bell which I can. run with a plain peak and goggles. Have any of the hive brain got any experience to share.especially which goggles work well with glasses. And yes I know Bell aren't what they used to be but I like them. I already have a full face and a Jet style open face and while they are ok I don't really like either.
  8. They weren’t travelling in the dark. I quite like those two, bit like a top gear clone for bikes without clarkson being an ass.
  9. I may have, but you know I am a fragile soul.
  10. Interesting, I thought you were talking about a Chinese takeaway and wondering why that was news CF Moto, Morini, Benelli? plenty to choose from.
  11. Just been watching the new series of Vikings on Netflix, pretty formulaic and like the previous ones but easy wash over entertainment. For some inexplicable reason the Wife and I have been watching Blue Heelers on Freevee, Its a 90's Aussie Police drama which for all intents and purposes is low budget and awful but weirdly addictive. Bit like Neighbours with leather jackets and guns.
  12. Slept after work, watched Leicester vs Northampton with the Dear Boy. We are now watching Exeter vs then Gloucester gotta get ready for work at 22:00. Pretty good day in an unusually quiet house.
  13. Stunning little chap, you can see the trouble in him though. I have had 5 JRT's over the years and if the house was quiet you had to be very suspicious as the really bad stuff went on when it was quiet.
  14. He's very good and has great recall. I call him Odus and he comes. As my daughter says: "I think you will find he is a very good boy"
  15. Same colour I had. I always wanted a yellow one but was tempted away by an AP50.
  16. Just looking back at my bike list and I comply forgot about my 1993 R100R. I was talking to a biker mate yesterday in his garage drooling over his Indian Scout and brand new CB500F without even a mile on it. He reminded me as he had see one recently and thought of me. I can’t believe I forgot the bike, probably one of the best bikes I ever had.
  17. Yes mate, I’m to ugly to be gay so I have embraced the full slap head as my darling daughter calls it
  18. Went out and about with the Dear Boy today. We did 7.5k but he’s was distracted didn’t want to pose for any photos or even mooch about like he normally does. He even got a bit frustrated with me when I stopped to take some pics of stone piles. Call me soft but I think he knew there were birthday prezzies at home for him. Anyway he is happily sleeping now after being spoilt on his 7th birthday.
  19. Weird weekend here, eldest daughter has a residential week at College and went today. Youngest daughter is round her mates for a sleepover and I am off to work. Just the Mrs and my son rattling around a quiet house. Not normal at all, no music no singing no bedlam. But it is the dog’s birthday and the Dear Boy has a new Ginger best Bud
  20. Spares aren't a problem you can buy practically anything for then from Germany, you used to be able (haven't checked recently) to buy modern fuel injection kits to fit to the old aircooled twins, as well as upgraded alternators and many other bits. Granted probably not from BMW themselves but there is no end of specialist support for these bikes. It's all about money and how you measure the practicality of running a 30 or 40 year old aircooled twin and how much you really want to do it.
