Ain’t it just Pete……..I know it’s a bit of a dog but once sorted it’ll be good fun. Always wanted one and so I can put up with a little expense and time
-
In the advert the fucking thing had working lights because it still had the battery in. @XTreme is right about dago peasants……bunch of cnuts.
-
Cheers mate, already called in three mates to assist. Now thinking I may need a couple more to be in the safe side.
-
Complete abuse that’s how

Given the desperate state of my latest acquisition and the undeniable fun that can be had at someone else’s misfortune or stupidity (the latter in this case) I thought I’d start a thread of woe so you can take the piss properly. Here are a few photos for your amusement. As they say, things can only get better. 🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍

Fucking butchers the lot of ‘em

This is the only pic you’ll be getting from me of the b’stard DR600 A fair bit of work to do on it that’s for sure; brakes binding, wheel bearings fucked, ignition hot wired, battery missing (an optional extra here obviously ), tank and carb to be striped and flushed………apart from that it’s a beauty.
-
Cheap as patatas fritas down here eh @XTreme?

Out trail riding on Sunday, got three clients who fancy a bimble around the local trails on some ancient XR250s. They’ve had three days on track (Almeria etc) so I’m hoping they’re knackered so I can keep up!………I’ll be sweeping up at the back as usual but that suits me fine. I’ll try and take some photos if I remember.
-
I hope not Pedro……I only kept it because my wife said she likes it. Personally I would have had the thing removed…….maybe wait until she goes away for a few days and do it then. I’ll tell her someone must have stolen it in the night.

It’s a fucking tale of woe for the majority of people in the UK, just glad we left when we did. Certainly couldn’t afford to live there now and also couldn’t afford to move to Spain and take residencia now that the rules have changes after Brexit. On a brighter note I chopped the fuck out of a palm tree today using only a hand held blade. Always been useful with a blade ……….and the Himalayan is getting a thrashing tomorrow just because.

About a year but they’d got it through the ITV this February……….the tester must’ve been a relative. I can sort it with the help of a good mate but I need to get it to his workshop and he’s back to the UK for a couple of weeks next Wednesday. There’s more to be done than is possible between now and next Wednesday so I’ve set my mind to the fact that it’s a longer term project.
-
We’ll yes that’s the thing that’s a bit confusing. No matter what I do it will not fire up.
-
I’m going to have to get the tank and carb off so it can be cleaned through. And it’s still fucking raining. And I haven’t got anywhere dry to do it in this rental property. Might have to have a nap instead.
-
We’ll this is what came out of the carb. A lovely milky fluid. Now it’s raining again. Happy fucking Saturday
-
It did when I picked it up but I put 5 litres of 98 in and it ran fine. It’s been started from cold a couple of times since then and normally starts on about third or fourth kick. Not yesterday though I’m going to drain the carb this morning and see if that helps. A bump start is on the cards. I think the poor thing has been stood doing Jack shit for about a year and could just do with a clean, change of fuel, and new consumables. That should help.
-
Nope it’s being a twat. Mind you, it could have been my lack of technique? I’ll try draining some fuel out of the carb as @Sir Fallsalot suggested if it stops raining long enough. To be fair, it’s not been run properly for about a year or more so I’m surprised I’ve managed to start the fucker at all!
-
Cheers mate, I’ll give it a go as soon as the rain pisses off.
-
I’m thinking positive thoughts about Sunday @XTreme because I’m getting two wheeled withdrawal symptoms. The plan is to kick that DR into life (wouldn’t start today ) or bump start the thing and get it to my mates place where we can give it a bit of a going over to make sure it’s at least ‘safe’ to ride
-
Yep, on Friday. Dry run home and it goes well. Needs plenty of tlc and a good check over but basically seems sound enough. As long as I can keep it mechanically sound then I don’t mind if it remains a bit scruffy………..chicks dig scars right?
-
I’ve got no chance of getting out as it’s supposed to be pissing down. If we get a break in the rain I’ll get the DR600S out and start to clean it up a bit. Poor thing.
-
Most likely mate, cheap as chips to run and it’s proper comfy. It’s either that or the DR600S……….
-
End of May/start of June my plan is to meet up in Zaragoza with a couple of mates from the UK. They’re taking three days to get there but I can do it in one so that’s a good deal for me. From there, the plan is to head west across the top of Spain, taking the smaller roads and just explore with no set plans. We’ll have about six days together and then they’ll get the ferry back to the UK from Bilbao while I head south to home.
-
Looks good mate, it’s well over forty years since I’ve owned a kickstart bike but I’ve had a little bit of practice more recently on XR250’s………….let’s hope I master the technique quickly to reduce the bruising.
