The additive kits seem to be a soldering iron with a tube to feed the plastic through, I was thinking of doing something similar to when I weld aluminium, put some sort of backing plate in then do an additive weld.

Has anyone done this? I have bought some CVO panniers but they have cutouts for a Harley amp, I want to fill the cutouts and was thinking of trying to weld plastic in.
