  1. More of your favourite type of Brit running away from winter electricity bills. When the cap finishes it’s literally cheaper to spend the winter in Spain. Sad times. Reading the news has made me think I could apply for asylum here on the grounds of systemic governmental abuse and torture, I think Sanchez would be amenable
  2. Showers til middayish then nice again. Hope it does rain, it’ll save me watering the plants Read Spain is due to be flooded with “thermal reugees” Hope it doesn’t push the rental prices up!
  3. Happy Sunday Today I will mostly be doing nothing
  4. Dang 99% charge to 7% in less than an hour. I'll say goodnight before I have to call the fire brigade
  5. For fecks sake just how bastid hot is this ancient laptop going to get? I've not seen a fire extinguisher here and its heating my hands beyond reason through the keyboard! Abort?
  6. I like the look of the cave hotel and the desert a lot.
  7. Not if I stop giving them to other people to work on!
  8. Might need the iPhone 14 upgrade soon then, it lets you make emergency phone calls via satellite. Not that I'd need that on a trusty Enfield mind you
  9. Sorry to ask this again. I'm sure its not that I wipe it from my memory as soon as you tell me but where are you again? I'll make a note this time. Promise. Kinda
  10. Hmm are you just fitting us in with another teabag run?
  11. How far away from you is that then?
  12. After my previous experiences I’d paddle home and fix it myself before handing it over to another mechanic. Did I mention I can paddle my bike pretty fast now?
  13. Wotcha mean “a slowlycatchymonkey adventure” mines been seamless. As in falling apart at the seams Excellent pics looks like a good day out. Those ruins are particularly good.
  14. That pretty much sums it up. Less pain and I’ll know it’s done.
  15. Doing it myself isn’t taking a chance Pete. I don’t find mechanical or practical things difficult. When I had a mini I used to fix it myself and my Pops was a motorcycle mechanic many moons ago, I’m sure he’d be happy to direct plus he knows what I can and can’t do. He also has an uncanny knack of being right all the time so that’s handy. I wouldn’t attempt to get he needle back on the speedo for example. Once the waterproof seals broken that would be a whole world of watery pain
  16. My god it’s mountainous, someone call an ambulance
  17. Just how did a mosquito manage to bite the back of my thigh when I’ve spent most of the afternoon sat down? Bastid!
  18. Yer and there is that very helpful guy who’s a Brit bike enthusiast at the Honda garage down the road. He cared. But then again I think I might be past trusting other people to do the work. Gonna sleep on it.
  19. I hope it is another planet and it’s not like the UK this is the third mechanic!
  20. No it’s not normal. I think this guy had been cooped up with his ill kids for too long and probably had had no sleep. Sleepless nights and ill children do not make for a chilled human.
  21. Yes I shall break out my excellent Spanish turning French and back to English and see what comes back
  22. I believe I know the things he’s done. And pray tell how does one know if they are looking at a proper mechanic? You don’t even know when you book a bike in somewhere if the person you spoke to who sounded competent is going to be doing the actual work! I’m fast coming or the conclusion I’m better off doing the work myself. It’s not rocket science.. close- engine burny fuel etc but it’s within my capabilities. Problem is I just don’t want to do it! Being practical is a pain in the arse, you end up doing bloody everything but its not as much as a pain in the arse as this is!
  23. Thanks I have considered that but I have smallish hands and dodgy ligaments in my thumbs so I’m reluctant. I’m going to try and free up the grip and move the lumpy gubbins out of the way first. We arrived yesterday and have just been unpacking n resting. It’s on the immediate todo list just under sit down and rest
