Clutch is fully assembled, I will put it back in the bike in the morning, I had to go out and help a friend with a problem with his electric garage door this afternoon, the friction pads on the Barnet clutch are much wider than the oem. It all went together nicely, quite an easy job really. The press is one I bought on Amazon, it was a return apparently and was been resold for less than £80 so I snapped it up and have not regretted it.

have no idea if I just flush mo ey down the toilet....lol....kinda looks like it does the job....didn't want to glue anything to my lid or the bike...

I've just ordered this...for the coming road trip to sturgis.....Roland is having serious though about joining the ride at the moment...lol...

Tend to agree w/ Marcel....that press is a handy piece of equipment to have in your tool arsenal...

I don’t use it very often, in fact it is only the second time, plus I keep it partially disassembled as I have no where to permanently put it.

That press looks prestine...is it new ? Not going to lie but at times I enjoy more buying a new tool than parts for a repair or the repair itself...lol

So today I pressed apart the clutch basket and replaced the clutch hub bearing and pressed it all back together. Here it is all pressed apart. New bearing pressed in and retaining ring fitted. Inner hub pressed in and retaining ring fitted. Time for lunch then fit the new clutch pack.

Couldn't be more fitting!....

There was some words about being able to switching to 10w50 synthetic but that was supposed to be mainly because there was a shortage of the synthetic 5w40 on several markets due to supply chain issues.

Wasn't there something about the Beemers going back to conventional oil as the synthetic was glazing up the bores?

After that mileage there will be engine wear, when the bike isn’t moving to pistons lean on the rings in the bores. You have to hand it to those Nazi engineers.

Yes, but these watercooled ones don’t use oil. The amount of oil is acceptable, so I’ll just keep an eye on it.

Probably the rings, that’s good for a horizontally opposed engine.

Mine has never used a drop of oil until now, it has started to do so about 10k ago, and is using about 400/500 ml per 6 or 7000 km. We plan to take it apart at around 200.000km and rebuild it, unless it gets substantially worse.

Well I’m 50,000 km behind you so who knows?

147 or 149 km. It hasn’t been used much over the last few months. But that’ll change in September and November. I would expect your engine to last longer than the GS’s, though.

How many miles on the GS now?

It’s only a baby, but nice that it’s fresh!
