I rode it on the trip to Bosham on Sunday. Can't say I noticed any undue vibes but then again the FTR is very vibey so anything else is rock solid by comparison. Every car ive had has been large displacement and lots of low end torque so that's what I am kind of used to and I find it difficult to switch to using the revs to get the ooopfh out of a bike, and that's exactly what the s1000 needs. I owned the MT09 for several months before I noticed that the rev counter went green once you wound the revs up enough . The BMW really is a lovely engine. I have raised the bars by 25mm which weirdly makes a huge difference to the comfort/riding position - I need to decide if I think it would be further improved but bringing them up a bit higher but that would require altering the brake lines. Im somewhat bigger than the average rider so all I can see in the stock mirrors are my shoulders - new bar end mirrors to fit tomorrow which will improve things.

I loved my R1150GS, that Guzzi probably feels like a smaller version one of that, which can only be a good thing. I’m curious to try one out, as a non offroad pretentious machine, just a nice bike. The other day I was looking at a Mandello up close and it is a good looking bike as well, maybe Guzzi is worth a consideration.

When will you take the s1000r for a proper ride, @Nute? It’s a nice engine, but some say it’s a bit vibey.

This afternoon I went to see another mate with an air con leak. I'd had an old refill canister and gauge so drilled a hole in the end and fitted a tyre valve so I could pressure up the system and find the leak. I found said leak, loaded up the car and came home only to find the canister missing. Mates had a look and he can't see it over there either. Early night I think.

Rode down to Lanner this morning with my mate Steve who obviously has money burning a hole in his pocket. He only bought his CBF about three weeks ago, last Friday he impulse bought a Guzzi V85 TT. Very nice it is to. Done 9,000 miles. Some nice bikes out the back. Also loads of nice stuff in the show room. Pricing wasn’t bad either. Especially liked this new all black Z900RS. Home made drain cover made me smile. On the way home popped into Dameralls for a cup of tea as we were riding past. Did about 90 miles bimbling about. Not a bad way to spend a Tuesday

Off down to Lanner Kawasaki (Cornwall Kawasaki Centre) in a minute, with my demented mate Steve. Has his eye on a Guzzi V85TT down there. Pictures later I expect.

Did a service on the rear on a 2006 RT last week. It was in fair condition for 20 year old but had plenty of corrosion on the engine. 20,000 miles on the clock, he paid £3000 for it although it does have the good old brake warning flashing but we'll be bypassing that later.

I rode one a while ago, I loved it, felt very aggressive and intense regardless of not being too powerful. Overall, too intense, too thirsty, expensive for what it was on paper, but it did feel special.

The K1600s are very nice to ride, but the engine is a little delicate regarding poor quality fuel. They do sound great.
