overall are they any good as im still looking around for a not too heavy cheapish run around / hack and maybe off roadish style single pot

There are a few issues with them as with any other bike but i really like them so a bit bias when i say get one  If you can find a good one go for it. They have a dry sump engine and checking the oil level can be a bit of a faff i always ask the owner to show me how to check the oil on it because if he/she doesn't know how to do it properly i'd walk away from it.
