Exactly what I would have thought but apparently not, from Cycle World;

Today Polaris announced its decision to separate its motorcycle brand, Indian Motorcycle, from the business and sell a majority stake to Carolwood LP, a private equity firm based in Los Angeles, California.

Might still be Chinese money though.  Expect a glut of small rebadged Chinese or made in India small bikes in the next couple of years. 😐

Well, this is unexpected and unfortunate. The Indian Motorcycle faithful won't want to hear it, but make no mistake: this Carolwood is just a middle man. Private Equity firms have no interest in anything other than turning as quick a profit as possible, and you can be sure the next rung above these guys in the Private Equity pyramid have no interest in motorcycle manufacturing, certainly not in the US. I'd bet Indian Motorcycles will be sold again, and likely quickly (think the next 5 years). If the past two decades are any indication, it'll be to an existing motorcycle company out of India or China. But who? Bajaj and CF Moto already have ownership/partnerships with KTM. As of 2020, Bajaj also owns the IP to Excelsior-Henderson, which they've done nothing with. TVS is busy investing in Norton. Royal Enfield has enjoyed enough success to not be bothered (although the brands were briefly intertwined in the past). Would QJ be interested? They don't seem to have much of cohesive strategy for the global operations of their brands, so who knows. Would Mahindra be interested in acquiring a dealership network that they can also push their revived BSA brand on? Time will tell. Until then, the scourge of Private Equity rolls on...

The writings on the wall, Benda Indian has a nice ring to it.

Your gonna have to find a new punch line.....you want be able to say they are made by a snowmobile manufacturer...lol

I don't care what anyone says..but Polaris has been a good Stuartship for the indianbrand...here anyway in the Americas they taken a fair chunk of the market away from Harley...no one can dispute the challenger is and excellent bike...

I’m sure some of the parts will still be made in America. Like 10% or something.

I wonder how long the current bikes will have spares backup?

Well the new CEO looks better than what Harley had...a sneaker ceo...lol...woke 🌈  everything...time will tell , don't know how solid the new company is...but don't imagine it is has much has polaris...Indian only made 7 % of polaris production...

Going back to when I bought the bike , having the back up of a such large company like polaris , behind it...it seal the deal for me...im sure its going potentially turn off potential buyers now for some time...
