  1. Just got off the roof put the trace heating on earlier while i was having a sandwich but when i went out i had forgotten to plug in the extension lead so had to wait a bit before i could start This is the pipe with the trace heating tied on loosely ready for taping up and all the slates with that white stain will need replacing now but i will wait for better weather to do that or until the water enters the kitchen whichever comes first LOL This is it all taped up with aluminium foil tape just need to get some good insulation now i covered it with the old insulation for now
  2. As far as i'm aware the boiler recycles the hot exhaust gases it produces when heating the water so it uses less gas making it more efficient. when the gases cool they produce water that drains to the sewer, as i have found out it cannot be made of metal as the water is corrosive. On my house the only way i could run the pipe was across my kitchen roof into the guttering which then goes to the sewer but it is susceptible to freezing which mine had done so it was running over the roof tiles instead of through the pipe. fixing this is what highlighted the corroded pipe in the boiler cupboard god knows how long it has been leaking definitely months rather than weeks. Its only a drip so has taken a long time to show up in the house as we never go in the boiler cupboard unless there's a problem
  3. No me now lol. All the new gas boilers are condensing boilers i thought it was just water dripping out of it didn't realise it was so corrosive
  4. My day hasn't gone as planned, what i thought was going to be a few hours work replacing the condense pipe has turned into 6 hours so far and i'm still not done, looks like the condense water likes to consume more than copper I've had to replace half a dozen of the artificial slate tiles on the roof as well, all the ones that have had the condense water on just crumble to nothing in your hands. Having a bit of grub at the moment while the trace heating warms up so i'ts a bit easier to dress along the condense pipe
  5. Throw some of your superior genes on the road to aid your grip
  6. Got to sort the condense drain off the boiler tomorrow not looking forward to it not sure about Sunday may go out on the Beta depends how the job goes tomorrow. For now i'm just chilling out with a beer trying to catch up with the crap on here
  7. Like some of the boys i work with, their so slow you need a calendar to time them not a clock LOL
  8. I have a set of Acerbis hand guards on the Beta slightly different to yours. they have spent allot of time on the ground and are holding up pretty good great bit of kit, as for the levers your just a tart with too much money LOL
  9. I think you are incorrect sir, what you say Saul
  10. Since we are showing off Africa Twins can i show off mine. Me in 93 with the distant memory of hair
  11. Got the clutch out of the XR tonight, i think it has been a little warm at some point comparing it to the new parts. Oddly enough everything is all within spec but it was riding when i started pushing on a bit The clutch change is a 10 minute job if i do it the correct way as there is a small cover to take off on the crankcase cover specifically for changing the clutch plates but i wanted to check the gauze filter in the sump, all clean as it has always been
  12. You somehow look taller in this photo Bob are you sure its you LOL

  16. The one that hit it home for me was when i was 16 i had to work in a house in the Rhymney valley (not Rhymney in Cardiff). The house was occupied by i teenage single parent, when she opened the door i thought oh aye shes a bit of alright but when i entered the property i had to go back outside to take a breath of air it stank in there. Once inside i could see why there was shit rubbed up the walls actual shit not dirt, half the windows were plastic sheets as the glass had gone and she had what looked like a new born baby in a cot. The job we had to do was only a few hours work and it was horrible, An easy job in a new build but we were scared to touch anything there it was fucking filthy and when we went to tell the girl we were off she was nowhere to be seen. The guy i was with said we cant leave as the baby is still here so we hung around, She turned up about 3 hours later the baby slept through it and didn't know anything about it. The guy gave her a talking to and we left, looking back now i would have been straight on the phone to the police and the social services within minutes
  17. A realistic one for me is doing electrical work on peoples houses no fucking way, i done some domestic electrical work when i was 16 and what i learnt was i never want to work on houses ever again especially with people in them, i might tolerate a new build but that's it. My boss had me price a rewire on a house about 15 years ago and when i gave him the quote i said to him if you get the job i wont be working there, he said you'll have to if we have no other work, i told him no i only have to if i'm working for you put me on that job and i'll be gone and we've never priced a domestic job since.
  18. Well i got one. When i fitted my new boiler a few years ago i only had the old copper pipe for the pressure relief valve going through the wall so i used it for the condense drain from the new boiler with all intensions to change it at a later date. When i came home from work last night i spotted a stain on the ceiling below the cupboard the boiler is in. When i went upstairs to have a look the floor in the boiler cupboard was soaking the pipe had frozen and the condense was now dripping all over it, so i spent last night putting trace heating on the pipe as once it leaves the house it runs about 3m across my kitchen extension roof to the gutter. Got home tonight all the ice has gone but water is still dripping in the bucket below the boiler i found there was a split in the pipe but couldn't understand how it froze inside the house and split. I cut it out and replaced the split bit of pipe and after reconnecting discovered its still leaking, on closer inspection the pipe hadn't split due to being frozen the condense is acidic and had eaten the pipe away along its length so i taped it up with some self amalgamating tape until i can drill the wall of the house to put the right pipe in this is the bit i cut out
  19. I hope you not like a mate of mine, he bent a valve on his Guzzi and carried it around in his pocket, when we went to bike rally's or party's he couldn't wait to get it out and bore someone to death about it
