  1. We looked at down sizing a couple of years ago but the price of a bungalow was far more money than what we have now. So, Mandi decided we'd extend the front room which sounds totally daft but we can see a time when she's really going to struggle with stairs and mobility so we came then move her down there.
  2. My brother in law has just undergone the same, think he was very nervous about it all. His was done just before xmas and he's now back at work. His biggest gripe was no alcohol so no real probs. Best of luck.
  3. Possible crank sensor too but hard to pinpoint when it won't show itself.
  4. Got another bloody cold, the gift of grandkids ay. Sitting here thinking about the pile of washing up that's been growing since Mandi got home Friday evening. Talking of Friday, capri engine in and running although poorly, some setting up to do. Got a little Kia sitting outside, stops for no obvious reason and won't start again until left for a while. I've been out in it 3 times and runs perfectly, fuckin cars. Daughters driving test has been cancelled so the fiesta that's been sitting in the garden's going to be sitting there a while longer.
  5. Unfortunately no, woman had other plans which was a shame as it was a nice clear day although cold. The roads are still white with salt here too.
  6. Thought bike of the month was for a bit of fun.
  7. Found my used part but soon realised it looked the same but the plug was missing some wires, after a bit of though I think I remember it coming off a 125 city fly. Stripped mine out to find a previous repair where the wires had been trapped in the lock stops. Cut out the damage and a bit of solder, heat shrink and tape later. Now refitted and I have a working bike again.
  8. Dominator failed to start in the week so I shorted the solenoid so I could use it. Found the starter button/wiring at fault so I'm now gearing myself up to attempt for find the spare somewhere in the sheds.
  9. That is the right path but not the neatest for sure. I should slap his wrists as he was my boy at work years ago.
  10. Prob not at the mo. Not tat I'd eat it anyway.
  11. Political tomato post, ban him.
  12. And on the political front, there's no-one here that has any interest in trying to get into power other than to line their own pockets. Guy fawkes was the man with the plan. Living on the edge I am.
  13. 2.8 auto out and 3ltr manual in. As I said, reconditioned start no workie. All I wanted to do today was see the oil pressure up. Back tomorrow to get the electronic ignition shite off etc and see that oil pressure come up on the hopefully working starter. Had a bit of a time getting the gearbox in, after checking and adjusting his clutch aligning all went together. It's a bloody good shell but previous owner's got someone to respray it the wrong colour with a lovely thick topcoat of orange peel. Can't help thinking that a modern day 2ltr would be much lighter and several buckets more power than this over weight engine and box but can't argue with the originality factor, and if I"m honest it's nice to play with some old school stuff. Talking of which I've been asked to fit a new type electronic ignition to a Norton Commando 850. Took me back a few years when I walked into his shed, nice condition but rose coloured glasses me thinks. Along with the RD 125, carbs back on and running, not too well yet though.
  14. Today I've been playing with the capri again. It's now got the right engine and gearbox fitted, 3ltr manual, but now the prop shaft is too long on the front section, the reconditioned start won't function and I've nearly finished my bottle of wine. Bollox.
  15. Quite a few boneheads in Britain apparently.
  16. Now you've stolen Petes knife moment.
  17. I've got a shed full of bikes needing MOTs and a dominator with the starter not working. The TDM which does have an MOT is just a total ball ache to get out the front due to the amount of junk in front and in the passage to get past. O and the rabbits. And its bloody raining.
  18. If she's not interested I'm up for it.
  19. Air filter at 3500, must be the size of a thimble. If it doesn't hold a lot of oil maybe the reason for the change interval. Oil changes are governed by how much crap gets in there, clutch material and what gets passed the rings and how the oil viscosity breaks down over time by the engine beating the crap out of it. My Honda dominator holds about 2ltrs and changes are 2000 miles if I remember right. Mandis CBF holds around 4ltrs and changes at 4500. I guess both of these are more down to said clutch material as jap machining is bloody good. The biggest prob with valves is more down the the seats getting beaten into the head closing the gaps which will burn them out so must be inspected regularly.
