I was tempted by @Sir Fallsalot’s entry because it sums up everything I love about off road exploration but………@Six30’s bike looks ‘ard as fuck…….gotta love the street fighter vibe and for that reason I’m in!

Sulking because I don’t have a bike on the road at the moment.

Not yet Pete, it’s likely to be towards the end of next week though. Fingers crossed. Having problems getting the DR to kick over which according to those in the know could be a result of the valve clearances being incorrect? Need to get it back to my mate’s gaff and he’ll take a look……..I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve never been adjusted since it left the factory in 1987!

Very underestimated bikes @XTreme, a mate of mine dies a fair bit of off road riding including competing in the last Hellas Rally with Torque Racing and he likes them, especially when you add some of the Rally Raid UK kit. I could be tempted when I get to your age.

I think it’s an age thing as there appears to be bugger all wrong with me and I find sometimes that I lose my balance ever so slightly. If you’re worried though @boboneleg you should get yourself checked out just for peace of mind.

You’re talking yourself into a new set of tyres mate, don’t bother until the current ones are fucked. Just get on it and ride it. It’s all in your head.

Rally Raid do all sorts of kit for them, it ain’t cheap but apparently it’s top quality stuff, the only trouble is that a reasonably priced bike then becomes bloody expensive. I think you’ll enjoy it mate.

My mate’s got a Norden and traded his KTM 1190R for it. He much prefers the Norden.

Have a look for a Kawasaki Versys 1000, go for the ugly Mark 1 version. Cheaper than most, super comfy, as reliable as anything and faaaaaaaast if you need it. Wish I still had mine, it’s a proper wolf in sheeps clothing.

Shame I’ve already sold the Himalayan mate or…………… …….seriously though, it’s gutting when you want something to be good and it just isn’t. Hope you get something better mate.

Ride out on the z750 somewhere but no fixed plans yet. However, definitely goi g to drop in here as it’s only a few klms away.

Me too mate, the level of work required was well beyond my ability but luckily I have two very talented mates who love doing this sort of stuff.

So, the old DR600S is nearing completion. All that remains is for me to order a new coil and HT leads and collect the seat from being reupholstered. New: coil and HT leads will set me back about €150 including tax and delivery whereas the reupholstered seat will set me back the princely sum of €35 from a local guy who does lovely work for not much cash. I can’t fucking wait.
