  1. Remember this, it stayed unmolested for a few weeks until the coronation finished. It has now gone and been replaced, see further down:- I did see a few pensioners gathered around the pillar box on my way home from work the other day. This is what is there now.
  2. One of my new sites is about 30 feet from Dennis Severs' House, an old Georgian home that has had every room restored to a different period and is open to paying visitors. I had no idea who Dennis Severs actually was until reading this today. I will do the tour soon. The house is easily spotted as it is the only one in the street with a flame fluttering 24/7 in the real gas lamp outside. Putin would do his nut if he saw all that gas getting through. https://spitalfieldslife.com/2023/05/14/how-paddy-handscombe-met-dennis-severs/ Links to pictures of the house at the bottom of the article. 3. My black coloured reflective strips seem to have caught the phone flash and shown up.
  4. Went to the MCN bike show at the East of England Show Ground near Peterborough. Last show there, the place is being turned into a housing estate soon. I'd like to say that it ended on a high, but it actually ended on a whimper, had done nearly all of it in an hour.
  5. I'll bet that's fun on a rainy day!
  6. I was hooked at the end of episode one when he cleared up after the dog with wheels for back legs.
  7. Mine fell and bounced a few times from waist height then rolled along our new town hall's heritage floor last week. I got a few looks in case I had broken their flooring. I did the carrying two bags a coat and a crash hat 'hand swap trick', you think you have all the straps in your new hand but one isn't. Won't be the last time that catches me out.
  8. The alternative roads to either side of that stretch of motorway can get even floodier though. Bike gear did well, not a drop in my boots, a little bit of damp at the very bottom of my t-shirt, otherwise my slim but perfectly formed bod was bone dry. Oxford Mondial jacket and trousers, Forma boots (super light and comfy to walk in too) https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/354697
  9. About 15 miles of motorway in total. Then the rain stopped and the roads were all dry again.
  10. I had my first day on a new site yesterday, had to have a poxy induction that dragged on for ages as the site is inside a building site. The induction was followed by some facial recognition thing that means you have to bend over and stare at a screen, then slowly nod up and down whilst everyone laughs at you, then you have to start shaking your head with the same result. This means that you can get through the site turnstiles by gurning at the screen until it recognises you. Anyway, lovely warm dry day, t-shirt weather, then I had to get across the borough during evening rush hour, filtering around the cars, wankers on foot and wankers on bicycles who appear at every possible location at the wrong time. The sky was very very dark in the direction of home. Once on the motorway the rain started. The motorway was flooding with yours truly splashing through it all. Someone stuck a picture up of the motorway I was on, so you can see what I was riding through (all three lanes were in use on my bit, the bow wave from the cars was going over my head at one point.
  11. Pink Panther country. Durham Durham, Durham Durham Durham Durham Durhammmmmm, dararrrrr, dadeddeydeedyo, dadee dadee dadee dadee dahhhhhh
  12. The Leather Boys is on TV, Talking Pictures channel. If you like old Brit bikes racing up and down to the Ace Cafe and seeing Tinker from Lovejoy in bed with his biker friend it's a must see.
  13. Hand written in a folder. Been doing it for a while so I know when an oil/filter/plug change is due and how long various components have lasted.
  14. A family up the road to me bought a bigger house only one street away from their old address. On the day they took possession they found that the sellers had taken the patio with them. There was just a sad looking area of sand and cement with the pattern of the slabs that had been taken. They could have taken legal action as it was shown on the fixtures and fittings list, but in the end their estate agent was so embarrassed he paid for the patio to be rebuilt.
  15. I'm making my infamous sausage rolls for a bit of a coronation do tomorrow afternoon. Women say men can't cook and to be fair the microwave just seems to make the pastry hot, but how hard can it be. I'll give them another blast I'm sure the stuff will rise and crisp soon.
