  1. Have you tried switching it off and then on again?
  2. Took a short cut through Spitalfield Market and the crumblies were out having a bit of a jig. The music was awful. I love the two fellas dancing. I had parked my bike inside the fencing of my site hut/compound whilst I went to a meeting. I had a bit of trouble due to all the building materials stored in there. They are not our materials! A warning email has gone off to the owners saying if they are not gone by mid day tomorrow we will take them away and keep them for a while. New pillar box knitted top to come on my estate it seems.
  3. My younger brother did that. He asked my Mum if he could borrow the tin of pins she used for her sewing. She asked him to confirm he wasn't going to do anything silly with them. He swore he would be careful. He came running back into the room 10 minutes later in a panic saying he's swallowed a pin. Turns out he had made a blow pipe and had taken a deep breath in with it actually pressed to his mouth. He's not the brainy one in our family! My dad has a magnet halfway down his throat for a while, but it was no good and he was taken off to hospital. They could see it on the x-ray but then later it wasn't visible any more. His turds were searched for a few days by the hospital staff then they sent him home and my mum had to carry on doing that for another week. Never any sign of it. He must be about 56 now, this was when he was about 5 or 6.
  4. Have you seen the clip of him rock climbing as a teenager. He sounded posh. He seems to have changed his accent a bit when he became famous.
  5. I bet that was a scary job during the blitz!
  6. I think it's made in Germany, inside the EU, so no customs problems? Weird you can't get it.
  7. I reckon they had a sponsorship deal with Rice Krispies
  8. Swan Upping. Not as pervy as it sounds. https://spitalfieldslife.com/2023/07/25/swan-upping-season/
  9. You're gonna get a tide mark if you lower your blood pressure. You'll be pink up to about your nipples and pale from there to the top of your head unless you lay down.
  10. I sped through it, but the tail on the lady was good.
  11. That'll be wind. My son used to do that when he was a baby.
  12. Not as good as their version of Sweet Child of Mine by the same band, that's a way back on this thread somewhere.
  13. Oh yes. Limehouse Matters FB group is full of them moaning about stuff. Just checked it and there is concern that a turtle is living in the dock. Give it a week there will be a petition to have it evicted.
  14. A wander around St Dunstans churchyard. Home of some of the bells from the nursery rhyme Oranges and Lemons. I might try and get pictures of all the ones mentioned. Oranges and lemons, Say the bells of St. Clement's. You owe me five farthings, Say the bells of St. Martin's. When will you pay me? Say the bells of Old Bailey. When I grow rich, Say the bells of Shoreditch. When will that be? Say the bells of Stepney. I do not know, Says the great bell of Bow. Here comes a candle to light you to bed, And here comes a chopper to chop off your head! NO IDEA SO DON'T ASK This is Stepney High Street just outside the church. Still looks like the country lane it used to be.
  15. Then it was over to Limehouse Basin. pedestrian swing bridge over the lock Thames from Limehouse Lock Another swing bridge for Narrow Street. Anyone who has watched the film Sparrows Can's Sing with Barbara Windsor may remember when she gets stranded with a baby in a pram on an open swing Bridge, this is the one. Walked back via Rotherhithe Tunnel. The tunnelling shield used to dig it now forms the height restrictor.
  16. Today I had to attend the compulsory Staff Conference and Staff Awards 2023 event at an old 1930 cinema in Limehouse. It was a grim as it sounds, a huge crowd and only one tea urn meant nothing to drink for a few hours and once I realised they had no record of who had and hadn't attended, I slipped out at the end of the first break and had a wander around Limehouse. Ladies and gentlemen I give you first of all, the real Albert Square from Eastenders, or the bit the Germans missed as I like to think of it...
  17. They're used to it and they spend in the pubs and shops, locals are super friendly anyway and always up for a chat. I saw only one angry local and he was a bit of a scumster with a can of beer in his hand at 10am. He barged through a couple having their photo taken under the whale bones and when one complained he turned on them and started shouting about they were blocking his way and should piss off home. he was not representative of the local population at all.
  18. Mother and daughter apparently. All pubs had wild life in them Outside our B&B
