I was looking for something today and found a photo of me n mi bro from yesteryears school days. Got my child hands on a bottle of creme de menthe. We laughed our heads off n used sellotape to tape up our schnozzes n mouths to create joker grins Your turn, youthful pics of pleasure, pain or outright coolness.. or nerdiness.. its all cool.

Brilliant. I thought that was Jerry Lee Lewis. Freak or unique?

Before he retired he moved to a website called Netweather (which I loved) and continued to broadcast from his home until a couple of years ago. His disaster was everyones disaster and he was massively misinformed by the met office as was every other broadcaster of the time but somehow (being popular) he copped the full blame. He was much more reserved, extra conservative on his predictions after that and a grumpy, reluctant 'Netweather' was born. He broadcast from his study and gave you the worse possible outcome of any forecast. This meant if Micheal says the weathers good its definitely f'in good

I love a bit of hype, all helps to build anticipation and I like reading the prep people do. Look forward to reading and seeing it all. Sounds like it might be bitter sweet. I dunno if you are really scratching wounds or just doing something that feels like it needs to be done? I met a guy at Burgh Island once who went every year on his own. It was the hotel he and his wife went to and when she died he continued to go. He looked very sad so I asked him why he returned to a place that made him unhappy, he said he felt like he was connected to her there and even though it made him sad it was lovely to feel like she was there. I hope you get some of that too

I think it looks great. I'd definitely put my name down for that.

The problem with making the visor too dark is when you move from bright light into a darker area (tunnel, tree canopies etc) your eyes aren't able to accommodate quickly enough so they tend to aim for a light tint to try and cover both bases. When its really bright I use sunglasses and the sun visor together, that combo works well cos you can flip up the sun visor in shaded areas but still have the sunglasses for when bits of bright light breaks through.

Ferry booked for 16th October so if you could have a word with the weather In a rather excellent score this is when my Dad will be discharged from hospital after his knee op. So I'll be about to take him to hospital and do the important stuff and will skip the irascible PITA recovery part which my mother will have the pleasure of doing

Sierra Nevada is next to my place, only been up there in a car though, tis on my hit list to ride when I get back to Spain. The route we took up the mountain was good, the route we took back down was bordering on terrifying. I couldn't believe the road was open, ridiculously steep, narrow, single track with tight 180 degree turns and sheer drops. It makes the road down to Robin Hood Bay look flat I don't recommend riding down that either, there are kamikaze pedestrians all over the shop. Mind you you'd probably pay attention to the sign saying 'no vehicles access only'

Phantom pain is definitely a co-codamol thing. Try a couple of spoonfuls of this in a cup of tea or anything unfizzy. So many patients bung up after painkillers and this seems to be the most effective least awful solution. It's almost completely tasteless and doesn't alter texture like most disgusting concoctions. Although its best to start taking it before the painkillers cos once you're backed up its a different matter! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Resource-Optifibre-250g/dp/B019552U4Y?th=1 -

TLDR buy the ibuprofen and co-codamol separately and layer them. They have completely different actions so it depends on the cause of the pain. If the pain is caused by anything inflammatory (it often is) then the ibuprofen would be more effective than the codeine in co-codamol. If the cause of the pain is unknown or not inflammatory codeine which works to alter your perception of pain rather than acting on the cause would be the best choice. The nuramol if its 200/500 and you take two tablets is the full dose of ibuprofen and paracetamol which would mean you couldn't then take the co-codamol with it. Layering individual painkillers is the best way to go. That way you can take the maximum or minimum you need to control pain. Buy the co-codamol and the ibuprofen separately. Take the co-codamol and wait an hour, if thats not done the trick take the ibuprofen. These are safe to take together but are often staggered to take it easy on the liver! If this also doesn't do the trick then its GP time for something stronger but whatever they give you will likely be opitate based and these type of painkillers have diminishing returns ie you body produces more receptors for them so they have a decreasing efficacy and aren't really something you want long term. ps codeine and opiates really constipate a lot of people so if you end up going down that route then soluble fibre is a good addition!
