  1. Today
  2. I got on the beans a bit today, the bike is producing a lot of torque right from 1500 rpm through to I don't know where as I haven't gone past 5000 yet. It produces more from tickover it needs less juice to get going. I reset the throttle response to standard which was definitely the right thing to do. At the top end where the lack of Horsepower was evident before it just keeps going now so bhp is well up. Acceleration is very fast, I was the A68 for a while and passed a ton of cars and bikes, probably a couple of Hyabussa as well but it was hard to see them as the disappeared in my rear view mirrors. Climbing up into the Lammermuir hills it never missed a beat and the torque was relentless. It's a lot nicer to ride now, feels like a different bike. The valve train noise is really smooth now and the bike sounds really nice, different from before. I also noticed the sheep ran off more quickly but that might be just because it's a Harley and they didn't want to get raped.
  3. Just did the full shakedown ride, planned for 50 miles so 80 it was and I'm back after 100.
  4. Bike MOT done for another year.
  5. Yesterday
  6. Comes in lower and climbs a lot quicker, I suspect it holds longer as well but I am not ready to open it right up yet.
  7. Told you to stop sniffing that gasket shelac....8sc.....lol. Would you say the torque hits at a lower revs... or higher revs..
  8. Excellent unique project I'd say....nice work Nute.
  9. Looks like Harley will be changing the rules again..the .Indian Wrecking crue will have to carry a passenger for the rest of the season ...lol.
  10. I don't have any way of weighing the thing....
  11. If you’ve binned a lot, maybe just compare the current bike’s weight once you fuel it up with the claimed weight for the stock one.
  12. Never thought of that, but yes it would be interesting. I suppose I could just weigh the big heap of stuff sitting in the corner of my garage that I took off, although ive binned quite a bit.
  13. Would be interesting to know the difference in weight between before and after.
  14. Rode it for the first time today, just round the driveway as still waiting for the front brake lines. Runs great, but not been out of first gear Still need a coolant tank, was going to use a stainless water bottle but the material is so thin that my TIG skills are not up to welding it without blowing through the material. It also wouldn't be rigid enough once the hose is on the not to fatigue the joint so still thinking about that. Got a different exhaust coming as I don't like what's on there, need a decent headlight and some sort of rear mug guard, and to weld the fillets between the frame and the lower edge of the seat to hide the electrics. Still need to program the new clocks, not yet picking up the revs and need to get the other bits like the gear position and fuel level to work. Next winter I will take it all apart again, cut the odd bits off the frame I don't need and get it powder coated, and rewire the remaining original bits too. Final pic is what it started out as. Not to everyones taste but I've had fun doing it.
  15. Fitted a radiator gaurd today . The rad had taken a bit of a biff after on off last time I was out, it's very slightly crushed at one end but no coolant loss that I can see .
  16. It definitely has more pick-up now, probably running low 8’s but I can’t be bothered to race people. Off for mot tomorrow so looks like I will be riding in the rain, will have to watch out for the massive torque.
  17. Back now, had a fantastic weekend in Newport.
  18. **URGENT MESSAGE** A very good friend of mine has bought tickets to fly to the Isle of Man to watch the Races on Friday the 5th of June. The problem is that he completely forgot that Friday is in fact his wedding day. This is because he bought the tickets ages ago before agreeing to the wedding date. Now he's asked me to post on his behalf to see if anyone wants to take his place? The wedding is at 2pm and all paid for you just need to show up - he assures me she'll make a terrific wife
  19. Now I'm kinda worried about the test ride.....
