    What Next?

I don’t think so, no. The thought of having to lube a chain again is annoying even before I have to do it. But that bike isn’t meant to be for me. I haven’t ridden one yet, but at 230kg wet I’ll be surprised if it feels more agile than my bike.

    What Next?

That 1200XE is a bloody big bike. I know you are used to that sort of thing but are you ready to ditch the shaft?

    What Next?

The problem is that she knows it!
  5. My Mrs had something similar a few years again. A woman visited our neighbour and reversed into the Mrs CRV and fecked the back bumper, the womans insurance paid but my Mrs premium still went up as she had a recorded claim even though it wasn't her fault given that she was sitting in the living at the time.

    What Next?

I think I want a big displacement traillie with more offroad ability. Something that can go on long trips easily and relaxed in doing road miles but is better suited for a little more offroad than a GS. It has to be nice enough of a road bike for a quick 300km on the motorway without feeling stressed and exhausting, and have creature comforts. The R12G/S seems almost perfect on paper except it’s got a baby fuel tank. I had a sit on one and I honestly I didn’t really feel interested on taking it out for a testride. The new R1300 Adventures are growing on me, they seem strong mechanically so maybe I’ll test one in a year or so and see how they are. I’d like a R1200GS rallye to maybe treat in a different way than I do my bike. The RT is a fantasy bike for me, but maybe in a few years. I like the Harley Low Rider ST a lot, but can’t see me enjoying riding that on any of the roads I enjoy except on the motorway, plus can’t see me turning it around in the garages I park either And also I would feel like a show off on a Harley. I am probably going to be flying to London in October and riding a Scrambler 1200XE home along with Sofia on another one. That will certainly tell me if I want a traillie like that or not.
  7. I honestly do not know if his or if my insurance covered the damage repairs, more than likely it was mine, because my renewal quote went up £100+.

I love the way you're thinking. Only problem is I'm too old to shag away half of everything I own and my Mrs knows that, plus I have gotten used to her now.
  9. He knew he was going back then, basted. The bad thing is you'll be paying as you had a claim.

That’s what you say you want, but what you really want is a project. I think you need two more bikes, really: the second one to “just get on and ride” and the third one to “paint brake callipers and rebuild stuff with needles and new seals”. Tell your wife this is what keeps a man out of extra marital habits.
  11. I nearly fell foul to the Ivan incident, I saw him hit my car, I got to his car before he drove off, cos I had feeling he was going too. Looked at my door and said I need your insurance details To which Ivan said, i not want to do insurance.. You take to garage, they repair...give me bill, I pay. Nope, it's going through insurance, he reluctantly gave me his details. It was about 4 weeks from the start of the accident to getting my car back. New door was needed. I went to my daughters house just after I got the car back, and guess what?.....Ivan had buggered off back to Poland about 2 weeks earlier!.. Glad I did it through the insurance...or I would have been stuffed with the repair bill.
  12. She's going away for a couple of weeks so I'm going to get at the cbf rear shock to see how I can get it lower.
  13. Today
  14. Not getting defensive, it most likely wouldn't be quite right for her as its going in the wrong direction weight wise
  15. Sunday morning navel gazing, what are you realistically thinking about for your next bike? My thinking room. Something retro or retro styled for me, middle weight around, 60 to 70 ish BHP, 200 ish KG or less. Twin or 4 pot. Probably less than £5K budget for me, or else I would be in domestic strife. Lot of interesting stuff out there for £2 to £2.5 K I like sports bikes but prolly would rarely ride such a thing, to uncomfy and don't really care about boasting numbers or tearing around like a nutter bastard. I ride with a group of old feckers so big 1000cc plus blasters are pointless given where I live and ride most of the time. Rather use the rev range on something smaller than have to tickle a beast 100+ Bhp around. Also I'm average height and getting smaller and older so big adventure stuff doesn't interest me really. Thinking Bonneville/Scrambler/Speed twin, W800, Intercepter (really), type of stuff. BMW R series stuff or older K75 Bricks. Do like a Z650RS, Do like a older 90's CB750 retro or a Kawasaki Zephyr. I like older 70's and 80's Japanese 4s but don't know if i can be arsed to fettle them commensurate to their age. Just want to get on and ride.
  16. My insurance did rocket up the year before last when Ivan the Pole reversed into my parked car and stoved in the drivers side door, maybe that showed up somewhere on the insurance database.
  17. Fuck that's depressing Clive, given that I am only 10 years or so younger
  18. Maybe because I have reached 71yo My daughter lives 200 yards from us, she is 40 yo has had 1 accident in the past, drives a 1600cc car, and her insurance is bit cheaper than mine. I did ask why my insurance is high, they just said..your age...or postcode that could flag up insurance problems too, was a bit vague. I have looked on the Meerkat site (other providers are available ) and the prices are the same.... I have other things to consider (car rear axle) that will require funds, so I will stick with the scoot, only costs me about £150 per year..
  19. Still around 250 kg wet which is fecking heavy especially for a Lady who is looking for something lighter. Think a CBF1000 is around 240 wet so going in the wrong direction Don't get all defensive I personally think Busas are pretty cool, not sure I want one, I am over big power big weight stuff, but recognise that they are an interesting bit of kit.
  20. It is abit extreme I'll admit but possibly abit lower seat height than a cbf1000
  21. No but it is a bike of extremes not really suited to commuting especially for someone who is finding a CBF1000 to heavy and a bit tall.
  22. He has that done before he leaves, his friends Ben Dover and Phil McCavity do it for him
  23. its cause of the old gits age
  24. Pretty much in the same way a fecking Busa would.
  25. Right engine wrong bike I think the Rebel is ugly to, I like the CL but that has been hit with the same ugly stick. If I didn't have the CBF600 I could see a NX or CB500F being a great option for my commute, mind you I traded my CB500F for a Hornet so what do I know
  26. That's 50 quid more expensive than for me with the busa
