Totally agree with that , I am going to explore the extra drag from the variator/drive belt first idea as that spins with the crank all the time. I did that this morning to check it. Sprays fine in a pretty good even pattern as far as i can tell. Starting is fine it just stalls at tickover once warn and off fast idle.
