CBF600 service and fork seals.

Well finally got my old shed cleaned out with a fresh roof on it so I have somewhere to work on my bikes.   Did the roof yesterday and all drying out nicely in there today despite pissing down all night.    So no reason not to get on with the jobs in hand now.   I think I will get the service done first then move onto the fork seals after.  IMG_5066.thumb.jpeg.2b5d27042b15bf3e7406b93ff5c26a41.jpegIMG_5067.thumb.jpeg.1f9b38043a2f9564b00f0f3b6cec578b.jpeg

Found this while cleaning the shed out

Also be under no illusions the shed is rotten in places, could be fixed and I may during the summer I have plenty of wood around to do it.   Being arsed is the factor.    Be a lot cheaper than replacing it.    Smells pretty funky in there hoping that will go as it dries out.
I bought the shed 20 plus years ago to keep my R100RS and R100R in.   Obviously no work benches then.  I got a photo somewhere.

That's an odd looking push bike

It's a Branded Land Rover push bike.  Apparently they are valuable according to my Mrs.  Whether we get anything for it or not is up to her I don't care.   I may find another home for it, it's more barn find condition and I can't see why anybody would want it but then again I'm not a Land rover freak.

I got a seat off eBay some time ago when the boy had an old cg125. That had Yamasaki on the side too.

I was given it at work years ago when I had a Sukida SK125 which was an exact chinky copy of an old CG125.   There were 3 of us with Identical bikes one was a Sukida another a Yamasaki and the third was a couple of years older called a Hongdu.  🤣  That lad with the Yamasaki got a new seat under warranty and gave me that one.  👍

Here's the video I made to sell it after 5 years of use. Cost me £700 delivered in the box did 8k miles commuting then sold it for £400.    !00% reliable in that time.  Not bad for chinky chonky although it was fettled and serviced on the button.   I genuinely regretted selling I grew quite fond of it although dog slow, but a genuine 100 mpg.

I think it is a rebranded Moulton.

I wouldn't know but it's a quality bit of kit.  My Mrs bought it for my boy at a garage sale for £10, then took it away from him but I can't remember why.

Dunno, ours is pretty rough but must have a value I suppose.  I will move it into another shed for safe keeping, My Mrs deal though I won't see anything from it 🤨

It might have to disappear to pay for shadows bike. Prob better than sitting there eroding away.

Moulton used to be made in Bradford-on-Avon , not sure if they're still there now.  I used to have a Moulton Mini for a while

Did it only have one pedal?

Been out sorting the shed, took one of the work benches down to fit Shadows bike in there.

Also moved the pushbike to a safe location.

Jury's still out on Shadows bike.   I don't talk about her issues on here but she has stuff going on because of background, before us, and I'm not convinced I should empower her to be back on the road just yet.   Also the insurance is a big question mark and out of my control.  Of course she is my daughter and I want to do my best for her but that best may not be back on two wheels in a hurry, not that we have had that conversation yet.    She is already making all sorts of threats about self harm because she has no bike, to the point that I'm taking leave from work this weekend to be around and home.     I agree about the push bike I will get the Mrs on it to get rid.  👍

All my kids are.   But Shadow had the worst background by a country mile.   Very few adopted kids come without issues sadly.  😐

Well good on you and your better half for giving them a home and a family.

Just been out and serviced the CBF.  Oil and filter, air filter and plugs.  What was in there wasn’t too bad so it has been serviced in the last couple of years.    I did an oil and filter change last year. Twas nice to be able the get the filter off with resorting to brutality 😉
Plugs were a fiddly pain the arse to do, can’t ever remember doing them on an inline 4.   I had a blade years ago but I paid to have that serviced.    Just the brakes to strip, clean and change fluid now.   Gonna do that after the fork seals. I may do that later or in the morning.   Just out of interest how many miles between plug changes do people do, don’t want to do it again in a hurry if I don’t have to  😉

Just finished stripping the forks out of the bike.  Total pain in the arse and filthy, seals been misting for some time I would say judging by the gunk.  I don't have an impact and looking at the dampener bolts in the bottom of the fork legs I will just mangle them with allen keys. Be cheaper in the long run to pay the local bike shop to do it with the right tools.  After all I have done all the donkey work. Also I am pretty sure it will be cheaper to pay them than buy an impact.
