Same here on the dog Bob, best thing i done was junking the CV carb, except the guy selling it said it was a TM40 turned out to be a TM38. I didn't complain as it was only £100 and came with the adaptors throttle and cable to fit straight on the dog and i sold the shit carb for £50 ?

The dealer she was taking it too didn't have a clue either they just kept changing parts hoping it would fix it none of them new what was actually wrong with it. We are entering our 6th year with the new Civic cant see us changing it until its broke but i'm like that with everything my old 4x4 i owned for 17 years and most of my bikes I've owned for over ten years.

We bought a 6 month old Honda Civic about 21 years ago for the wife and at the same time her friend bought a new Peugeot 306cc convertible thing, she thought it was great and had great pleasure in telling us we had bought an old mans car. The first year she owned it she done more miles in a courtesy car then her own because it was in the garage being repaired so often. she got shot of it after the first year we traded in our civic for another 15 years later still a good car, I'll take an old mans car over the piece of shit she had any day

Yes everything is a lot better now he was in business about 20 years ago and he said 90% of the stuff that he worked on for rust and mechanical problems was Ford, Vauxhall, Rover and Peugeot back then that's why I've never owned one of them

A friend of mine used to own a repair garage where he done MOT failure work like welding on new parts that had rusted off or patching rusty holes. He said if it wasn't for Ford, Vauxhall, Rover and Peugeot he'd be out of a job

My father only ever used that stuff, for as long as i can remember there were two bog roll holders in my parents bathroom one for that stuff and one for everyone who wanted their ass hole intact after a couple of wipes. When he couldn't get the stuff anymore he was devastated

Yes i think hydrogen is best for the environment but its too explosive, can you imagine tight arse Dai down the road tuning up his hydrogen powered hot hatch in his garage you'd hear the explosion from your house

I feel the same about electric vehicles Bob their pushing how much better they are for the environment like they did with diesels and 20 years later their worse than petrol engines. so in 20 years i'm expecting there will be something stupid about EV batteries being more difficult to dispose of than plutonium

Had a gentle trail ride showing one of the new members of the TRF about today, he'd recently been done for riding illegally so wanted to start doing it right so why i was showing him about i haven't a clue . The lanes were really dry which made them a lot easier to ride than normal almost boring in places maybe because I've ridden them so much. Usual photo looking towards my place all new to this guy We are heading over to the wind turbines you can see on the skyline above my bike here We stopped to take this photo when the farmer in the field shouts down to us i thought here we go this lane has a TRO on it prohibiting use after 6pm thought he might be going to tell us about it Turned out him and his farmer buddy were having trouble rounding up his horses and wanted us to help drive them down to the farm with the bikes, Wish i had a Go Pro it was a mad 15 minutes those horses we determined to stay in the field But we got them down once on the track they ran the rest of the way with no encouragement from us at all Good views from the wind farm that's the Bristol channel and Minehead area in the distance We did find a mucky lane i forgot to mention there's a big rock in the middle of it. It's the same place as the photo i put up here last week so i new about it

Yes but you have to split the crankcase to change the crank or use the TRX motor but their like rocking horse shit I've been looking out for one for years but i have never seen one for sale, their farm quads here but the farmers wont sell anything. That was the same with the XR's only kit as well This kit from Poland is just change the flywheel and cover and its done
-
Thanks @Pedro i'm going to find out as much as i can about how reliable the kit is and will spares be available in the future before i make a decision. According to their page they do ship to the UK
-
I haven't tried that hard @Pedro i'm just thinking of future proofing the bike, there's going to come a time when i cant kick start this could keep me on it

I've been trying to get in touch with a company that make electric start kits for the 400 and 650r located in Poland. the mechanical part can be fitted in 30 minutes just leaving you the wiring to fit I've messaged them but they haven't got back to me. https://www.facebook.com/314380265706363/posts/sweet-option-for-honda-xr-400r-electric-start-kitall-parts-for-engine-and-12-dc-/679746072503112/
