  1. It's not the same today as it was and the views from up there are great. If they built a modern housing estate there today you would be paying top dollar for the houses If it wasn't for the god awful design on the buildings there it would be a nice place to live https://www.google.com/maps/@51.6459655,-3.4435171,3a,75y,179.11h,98.87t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s_9Kl1_gwfgR-TDpgrJryMw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656
  2. I do the same as well its real easy perhaps that's why i liked the paper maps as it was more challenging plotting and riding the route. A lot of people couldn't do it
  3. The place i live was superposed to be a real rough place in the 70's but more to do with fighting than a shit hole that title was reserved for Penrhys and Lansbury park. now they were real shit holes
  4. I was also the same about the OS maps for finding the green lanes i ride, used to dismiss the electronic devices and say a paper map was all i needed but using the same maps on my phone makes the ride go so much smoother, only a few U turns now. But i do feel i have lost a skill and rely on the device too much i used to enjoy plotting a route and using paper maps
  5. I was all the time used to say shit like real men don't need heated grips guess i'm not a real man anymore
  6. Not sure but lots of people saying they have gone to 200 hours with no problems
  7. Honestly i cant think of any;. they all had issues but cant think of one i would say was my worst bike
  8. Hey i'm an optimist i'm going to be off work and its sunny i'm going to be happy right up till Thursday morning
  9. Out with the wife tonight so probably recovering tomorrow, Sunday i'm hoping to get a ride in just for some exercise the weather don't look too good but that don't bother me too much. booked next Thursday and Friday off work and just look at that sparkly yellow thing next Thursday
  10. Funny enough i washed the guts of the helmet i use trail riding this week, i have another for the non sweaty stuff. I usually change them when their totally fucked. I've almost pushed my spine out my arsehole at least half a dozen times this year alone by hitting my head on a low branches trail riding so there's no way i could afford to change it every time it gets a bump like they say you should.
  11. An Intercom is something i'm interested in but wont buy because music has a huge influence on the way i ride i just cant afford to lose my licence because a good track comes on For me its got to be heated grips its the difference between staying out or going home. I remember the first time i got to use them it was on the XR riding a mountain road in freezing fog i could see my mate in front reaching back to his silencer to warm his hand just as i was turning my heated grips to the low setting as my hands were getting a bit hot
  12. I think its a chrome bore so its just piston and rings and being a 2 stroke its half a days work but i shall fix it when its broke
  13. That's how i'm treating it, its not having a hard life and only opened it up a handful of times it pulls so good at low revs i just short shift through the box very rarely do i need more than 50% throttle
  14. Yes service is all in hours run. The book says new piston and rings at 60 hours i'm on 42 hours and its 3 months old, I'm sticking to that old motto if it ain't broke don't fix it
  15. Why thankyou kind sir, i am enjoying it at the moment trouble is the more i enjoy it the closer i get to having to rebuild it, bloody service intervals are crazy if you go by the book but i'm taking that as competition use not trail riding like i'm doing
  16. I'll have you know it doesn't say that i ride legally honest your Honer
  17. I started the eighties at the grand old age of 12 so no i don't remember it
  18. If it works it will be worth it to me. To replace it there are only two bikes i can think of that will do and one is the XR650L and the other is the DR650 but i'd have to spend thousands to buy either of those rather than the hundreds to get this thing going
  19. Trouble is Bob it wasn't just the cam it was the rocker arms and the rocker arm shafts as well i saved myself about £40 buying from Dave silvers but still a lot of cash. The parts alone are almost what i paid for the bike 10 years ago
  20. I'm thinking about any other damage caused by the lack of oil that i don't know about yet. As for the the oil feed pipe i'm in the process of putting a temporary oil pressure gauge on there and once i know what pressure it runs fitting a permanent pressure switch with warning light Something like this on the dash will do i think
  21. I think i'll try some sand this month instead of the mud
  22. My cheap camshaft never arrived so I've had my money back. Bit the bullet and ordered from Honda yesterday, this thing better fucking work after this or i'm going full Basil Faulty on it
  23. Did you change out of second gear the one i took out was doing about 75mpg
  24. I got to admit i really enjoyed that bike in DCT form but agree about the rear suspension i thought my spine was going to bust out the top of my head going from Abergwesyn to Llyn Brianne
