All welded up now not pretty but its not going anywhere

That's the only area rust has got a grip of the ends of the boxed in bit are open so all the crap has got trapped in there holding water going to pour some rust killer in there and after its dry loads of chain lube

Today I have to weld holes on the 650, last time i was out the headers started blowing since it was recently rebuilt i just thought it was something settling in so nipped up the bolts which fixed it, later on one of the lads i was out with flagged me down to say my exhaust was bouncing about it wasn't the headers settling in i had lost a bolt holding the silencer on and that bouncing about had worked loose the header pipes. so me being clever just got some fence wire and held it up with that for the rest of the ride when i got home the bouncing about had chewed up the rusty metal and made a proper hole for me to sort out So far I've Cut out a nice new plate and made a spacer for the exhaust mounting bolt to attach Ready for welding Spacer welded in place A dry run to see how it fits Back to the shed now to make the inner plate then i have some serious cleaning of the frame to get all the paint off ready for welding

You've been harping on about the CRF300 so my moneys on that or the 250 version

A bit disappointed and happy with todays bike swap day. Disappointed because the guys bringing the two bikes i actually wanted to try didn't show up but real happy that every 2 stroke bike i rode had me yearning to be on my Beta they were hard work to ride as trail bikes which is great because it means i made the right choice when i bought the Beta X trainer i couldn't wait to get back on it

I'm 10 years older now bob might be ready for it, on the other hand somebody telling me something has too much is a way of getting me to buy something that's the way my head works all my friends told me not to by the YZ490 back in the late 80's but i showed them

I took the 250 out when it was first introduced and i was happy with it on all the back roads it was the lack of thump on the open road that stopped me from buying one, i like the torque from the 650 and the xr400 i want to see if the 300 is getting near there for me and the 701 is supposed to be a real good trail bike with a huge thump 74hp out of a bike thats about 160kg

I'm off on a TRF bike swap tomorrow which is a try someone else's bike out, i want to have a go of a crf300L and a Husky 701 god help the fucker lumbered with the dog

Had a day out on the dog yesterday it was a nice relaxed ride of some scenic back roads and trails some of which were new to me. Had to clear a few fallen branches on route lots down after the recent storms. I must say i'm feeling it a bit today, all photos taken by the guys i was out with, the camera didn't leave my pocket all day LOL. It was hot and dusty finished the day with a cool pint

The engine is probably worth more than the bike now i got that newer and better thing in my head again hoping it will go away
