Yes and an old friend Barry that died in the palliative care ward my wife works in, if i was going to go to one it would be Barry's but i only have the XR and the Beta road legal at the moment should be a good attendance for him he was well liked i haven't seen him for over 15 years though. And to top that the wife's uncle died in her ward last Sunday as well so his funeral is next Tuesday.

New spark plug spanner for the Beta
Sir Fallsalot replied to Sir Fallsalot's topic in MOTORCYCLE WORKSHOP
Wont be throwing it, the one i bought is a ratchet one so will be much better for undoing a hot plug -
Got a day off work tomorrow, dentist at 08:30 to get me out of bed and after that a choice of two funerals to attend but i decided because i cant go to both i'm not going to either, so started tomorrows job tonight and going to pick up a new tyre for the rear and chain and sprockets for the Beta, although i'm still not convinced the old tyre is toast yet

When i was growing up there was no music in the house other than the classical music my father listened to or the odd chance of listening to top of the pops when the parents weren't around which wasn't very often. i started working with South Wales Electricity Board at the age of 16 and in their training center there was a record player, first day there one of the lads put this on, it blew my mind never heard anything like it before and shaped my taste in music from then on. still gives me goosebumps now

To give you an idea of how much walking i do, i have a pair of caterpillar boots advertised as walking machines when i bought them which must be getting close to 30 years ago and their still in excellent condition LOL

Most nights i could sleep on a chickens lip but do have nights where my mind wont shut down, usually thinking about work. I do have times where i lay awake kicking myself for doing or saying something stupid when i was a teenager wtf that is all about i don't know.

Those size cans of WD40 were £3 a tin in Tesco's when you use the Clubcard Bob. I think i said before i just buy a gallon of WD40 and use a hand pump spray

Honda 2023 XL750 Transalp Announced
Sir Fallsalot replied to Seymour Asscrack's topic in MOTORCYCLE REVIEWS
£7995 according to Colwynbay honda here in the uk -
No i'm not i have plenty of worn out tyres to fit already
-
I'm a tight git i would stick that on the 650 in the summer and run it until the rubber between the blocks touched the road The rear on the Beta has lost three quarters of its tread but it still gives good grip want to change it but the tight git in me is holding off. Thinking of whipping it off tomorrow night to have a look at the mousse if it's still good i think i'll have to go down a tyre size as it looks like i'm running 2 psi in there

Boring post for the non mechanical members here but tonight's project was a result of drowning the bike last weekend, i found the factory spark plug spanner wouldn't work with the bigger tank fitted as the ring is a six point and there's not enough space for the spanner to work, i needed a 12 point for it to work so i bought a cheep spanner to modify and it arrived today First job was to shorten it as its too long to fit in my tool bag so off with its head Then i need to straighten it, the crank at the end made it an awkward fit i used a cheapo induction heater i bought years ago to get it red hot to bend really useful tool now straightened its easier to use in the space Ready to weld the open end back on wasn't going to bother but it might come in handy one day Welding done All ground back and cleaned up, works a treat hopefully i'll never need it again LOL
-
Looks really wide in the photos. will you keep the old tyre for the summer
-
Only a van offers the protection your talking about
-
Why does that look like a rear tyre to me
-
That's why i'm so glad my pair have never been interested in the bikes just one less thing to worry about

Two of my favorite video games from 20 years ago or more.
Sir Fallsalot replied to zzzak's topic in GENERAL CHAT
My kids have never been into video games and there weren't any affordable ones when i was a kid just arcade machines, which i used to make the wiring harnesses for i think i was around 18 at the time. they used to have a game called the golden axe in the canteen which i was addicted to playing and used to stay on an hour after work playing it while i waited for the rush hour traffic to go -
