Well we're both still pretty ill.......though I slept a bit better last night cos I was basically propped up with my back on the wall behind the bed. I've found sitting upright means me less likely to get a coughing fit (and the abdominal back agony I get from it. And because I'm propped up and surrounded by pillows it minimises the chance of me twisting in my sleep and making it worse. This thing is worse than Omicron by far, and I've never known a flu like this before. It has to be Kraken!

I can't get out and about......I'm just too fucked due to my back getting strained with coughing. Apart from that I have a lot of work on anyway. So don't look at me to contribute anything......you lot will have to keep the site going!

I've been working since 5AM.......less chance of me being in agony with a coughing fit if I'm upright in my computer chair.

I've been awake most of the night......so I've had to get up. My injured side from coughing had basically recovered.......but at some point overnight I must have coughed and twisted in my sleep so I'm now back to square one. Any movement is painful and if I cough it's like being stabbed.

My only point of comparison is 51 years of living in Britain. And it's a no-brainer between the two. Spain ain't perfect by any means, but considering where we came from and the environment that we grew up in, Spain has been good to us.

My Pension comes from fixed earnings through employers in the UK. And it actually costs around €5Kpa in self employed contributions just to do what I do. So before earning a penny and then paying tax/IVA etc you're in deep financially. Spain's system doesn't help entrepreneurial activity at all....in fact it pushes people into the black economy.

I know......you just can't get the help these days!

I'm not boasting about it.....that's just the way the game is played here. Don't hate the player......hate the game. And my Pension comes from the UK (1970-2005) so it's not even relevant to anything that goes on here anyway.

I did 35 years in the UK and the wife isn't eligible for at least 6 years. Doubt she'll get much cos she only did 10 years and then had the kids.

It was worrying when we converted our UK licences into Spanish 10 years ago......I'd heard of motorcycle entitlements go missing. So we got our medicals, made multiple photocopies of everything.........and I drove to the city of Granada to give everything to my accountant. He then went into Trafico personally and checked every step of the process.

The thing is with moving abroad you've both got to really want it. However, when you get to your new country and the reality hits home that it's not a holiday and life goes on just the same........very often one of you wants to go back. That's happened a lot here.......and it's usually the woman that wants out.
