The first big bike I had was a XT500, it could be a pig to start if it was hot and was a heavy beast for trail riding. Nowadays you'd be paying upwards of £5,000 for a good one, but bikes are sooooooooooooooo much better now.

I was just trying to work out whether to newer Transits have less problems, like I say that one has had no aggro at all. I'm thinking of p/x 'ing my car for a van next year, if I could get a high roof custom with an auto box I'd be well chuffed. At the moment they're a bit out of my price range

I've heard lots of horror stories about them Fred. My boss bought this one in lockdown and even specced it with an auto box (for me), it's done 17,000 miles in the first year with absolutely no problems. What year are your work vans ?

I hope it gets better for you soon Keith. Keep your eye on the diabetes, I never realised what a bitch that can be until I had to go for a prosthetic leg. I though how have all these people had accidents until someone explained about diabetes leading to bad circulation.
