More like ''I instructed Mr Slowly to pick some berries so I could make a better pie than @Pedro ''

I’ll say this . The Desert X uses the 959 engine which is a derivative of the 821 . We’ve had two Monsters in with that engine that were very noisy. When we took them apart they both had massive play on the crank, we discovered that the crank doesn’t have a main bearing just a big bush. This smacks of cost cutting by Audi since they took control. My boss said if he had one he would junk the engine and fit an air cooled 803 engine from a Scrambler.

It's a really good looking bike but I don't think I could shell out that sort of money and end up dropping it in some mud puddle
-
Have you got a source for that , as far as I know the Desert Sled has been dropped from the Scrambler range
-
Yes, they're definitely better on racebikes. We had a nice bank of four on a Suzuki XR69 that my boss rode a couple of times.

Nice set of Carbs

I wish I was younger and fitter so I could give that a go . The only downside to it that I see is the price .

Very nice Fred, what are the O/E tyres , Pirelli Scorpions ?

I put my meter across 85 and 86 and got no reading at all , from that I presumed the relay was dead ? I'll try what you said tomorrow
-
That's what I was hoping , I just wondered if there was any trickery going on inside them .

The headlight on my new (to me) Yamaha doesn't work (side light is fine) .There is no power at the bulb connector and then I traced to wiring to the fuse box and there is no power there. I suspect it might be the relay at fault as I have power going in and as far as I can tell none coming out. This is the (possible) culprit and Yamaha would like £83.42 for a new one . So could I just use something like this .................... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ehdis-12VDC-Multi-Purpose-Relay-Standard/dp/B01JBRHG7M/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=1TYQMG92C88A1&keywords=motorcycle%2Bheadlight%2Brelay&qid=1696353837&sprefix=motorcycle%2Bheadlight%2Brelay%2Caps%2C119&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1

I did a similar thing to my 1300 Escort van . I put engine from a Mk2 Cortina 1600GT in it. Quick up to 85mph and then it ran out of puff
