The dog was added in later to make the story better, you were not paying attention as the story wasn’t about you.

I might remember things differently...60 now my memory might not be has sharp has it was once was....didn't you move the memory card from the laptop cause your father in law was on visit and was using it ? And sometime in that confusion your dog ate the memory card ?
