Scenery got better as I climbed up ...

I watched my odometer - the fuel light came on before I stopped for fuel. Not sure when that comes on - maybe with like 50 miles to go? Gonna have to sort out an auxiliary tank for that thing - sucks having to calculate the next fuel stop and worrying constantly.

Anyway, back to the ride report. I got up at 4:00 AM to beat it outta Las Vegas - no heat and no traffic. Got up into the mountains of Utah and it cooled off significantly ...

Ya mean on the dash? I don't even look at that thing - just watch the odometer. I knew this was a long stretch without fuel stops before I started it as I've done this road many times. So I just took it easy the entire way

Ha! I did it all at about 55 mph!

This sign was about 40 miles past the previous pic, Not good. But I made it obviously or else I'd still be sitting out there on the side of the road waiting on someone to pass by....

Never had them in my life. Only southern people eat that crap.

What was the "snack"? Bowl of puke and fried bull's balls?

On the last day of my trip and have been riding through hot deserts for a week - checked the weather at home and it's 4C. Four fuckin' C. Gonna freeze going home today.

It was in decent shape. Wish I could have gotten inside or seen inside, but they had it pretty well boarded up....

Not really, but they tend to be prettybig. Rhyolite had 8,000 people in it at one time - and that was in 1905-15 or so. It came and went fast!

Loading up and headed back to Utah tomorrow. Will leave early again to beat the heat out of town. More pics tomorrow.....

Time to head back to Vegas and dodge the donkeys on the way....

Mostly stone and concrete construction as there are no trees available for wood construction....

This town only lasted a couple of years and had some pretty decent buildings in town.....

And what this one has to do with a ghost town I don't know. At least the carpet matches the curtains...

Just a slight bit of off roading to get there. The town has some weird artwork - The Ghosts of Rhyolite ...
