  1. Jury's still out on Shadows bike. I don't talk about her issues on here but she has stuff going on because of background, before us, and I'm not convinced I should empower her to be back on the road just yet. Also the insurance is a big question mark and out of my control. Of course she is my daughter and I want to do my best for her but that best may not be back on two wheels in a hurry, not that we have had that conversation yet. She is already making all sorts of threats about self harm because she has no bike, to the point that I'm taking leave from work this weekend to be around and home. I agree about the push bike I will get the Mrs on it to get rid.
  2. Been out sorting the shed, took one of the work benches down to fit Shadows bike in there. Also moved the pushbike to a safe location.
  3. Dunno, ours is pretty rough but must have a value I suppose. I will move it into another shed for safe keeping, My Mrs deal though I won't see anything from it
  4. She knows that but I don't think the gravity of the situation has hit her yet, not sure she will be able to get insurance. Her boyfriend (18) had a smack last year and his premium is £200 a month now.
  5. If anything it is worse now. Plenty of time to strip the valve cover and check out the timing chain definitively but I don't think it's that. I'm not going to touch it until I hear from the insurance people. Don't know if they will want to inspect it or not. EIther way I want to strip the forks and check the headstock before she goes out on it again. They look okay but I want to check them off the bike. . I don't know if they will cancel her insurance after a claim or not. I have told her to be prepare for weeks not days off the road. Give her time to get her head straight. Luckily she can walk to work, will put a crimp on her social life though. Needs new handlebars, levers, indicators and paint. Doable but getting tedious now. Bought her this earlier today bit late I suppose. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183006815366
  6. I've had better days, but she is home safe which I will settle for.
  7. What a fucking day, just got back from MIU with Shadow. She rear ended a car and went over the handlebars. Badly bruised shoulder and in a bit of shock but fundamentally ok, thank the lord she had all her protective gear on and had luck on her side. I don't know what's up with her at the moment that twice in two days, normally she has been a careful and safe rider but the last couple of days I don't know. Yesterday she hit gravel in the rain so there was mitigation but today she was stone cold 100% to blame. Bike is fixable as is the car she hit but she is going to be off the road for a few weeks at least. All reported and insurance details exchanged so we have to wait and see what happens next. I have had better days.
  8. I wouldn't know but it's a quality bit of kit. My Mrs bought it for my boy at a garage sale for £10, then took it away from him but I can't remember why.
  9. I was given it at work years ago when I had a Sukida SK125 which was an exact chinky copy of an old CG125. There were 3 of us with Identical bikes one was a Sukida another a Yamasaki and the third was a couple of years older called a Hongdu. That lad with the Yamasaki got a new seat under warranty and gave me that one. Here's the video I made to sell it after 5 years of use. Cost me £700 delivered in the box did 8k miles commuting then sold it for £400. !00% reliable in that time. Not bad for chinky chonky although it was fettled and serviced on the button. I genuinely regretted selling I grew quite fond of it although dog slow, but a genuine 100 mpg.
  10. Didn't Skorpian evolve into Akrapovic ?
  11. I got a few quid burning a hole, but I am tempted to save it towards another bike. Or the Mr's will want something. Need to get of the net really, plenty to be doing but no enthusiasm
  12. It's a Branded Land Rover push bike. Apparently they are valuable according to my Mrs. Whether we get anything for it or not is up to her I don't care. I may find another home for it, it's more barn find condition and I can't see why anybody would want it but then again I'm not a Land rover freak.
  13. To be honest as long as it's not anything that leads to mechanical doom I do care that much. Shadow can get used to the noise. Tis a tiny air cooled single always gonna have a noisy motor one way or another. I am pretty relieved it's not coming from the engine casing just the same, thanks for the tip, I don't know why I didn't think of it, I saw my dad doing it often enough back in the day. I will see if I can source a stethoscope or just buy one from Machine Mart as Buckster suggested.
  14. Well finally got my old shed cleaned out with a fresh roof on it so I have somewhere to work on my bikes. Did the roof yesterday and all drying out nicely in there today despite pissing down all night. So no reason not to get on with the jobs in hand now. I think I will get the service done first then move onto the fork seals after. Found this while cleaning the shed out Also be under no illusions the shed is rotten in places, could be fixed and I may during the summer I have plenty of wood around to do it. Being arsed is the factor. Be a lot cheaper than replacing it. Smells pretty funky in there hoping that will go as it dries out. I bought the shed 20 plus years ago to keep my R100RS and R100R in. Obviously no work benches then. I got a photo somewhere.
  15. He will probably think twice before driving like that again. Deserved all he got
  16. Just been out checking with a screwdriver as you suggest and that rattling is not coming from the engine. I have tried all over the motor and gearbox and all I hear is mechanical whirring noise as it should be. No rattles at all in the casing as far as I can tell. Shadow is off to Truro in a minute but I will strip the panels off later when she gets back and look for something loose, the rattle is sort of metallic so should narrow it down a little.
  17. Toying with getting one of these for my Hornet. Anyone any experience of them?
  18. Yeah the CBF125 is a weird looking arrangement not like a normal tensioner.
  19. I did when I checked the valve clearances, all looked good
  20. I will do that. I had another good listen earlier when i was repairing the crash damage she did today. The rattle sounds much worse on the video that it does in the real life. I think I am going to monitor it for now. I did clean out the sprocket cover earlier and it was full of greasy shit so now sorted but nothing in their to rattle that I could see.
  21. Bought the Hornet a prezzie. Had a shit couple of weeks so did some retail therapy.
  22. She is 17 not 40/50. I'm sure we all fucked up at that age. Anyway she came home and I pretty much sorted it out, again. Indicators repaired, foot pegs swapped out. Headlight is fine, one of the cheeks around the light is scratched up but I have a plan for that. I resprayed the scratched exhaust and crash bars all back to being tidy. I cleaned out in the front sprocket cover all is good in there. Had another good listen to the rattle and it sounds much worse on the video than in real life, I tempted to leave it and monitor it to see what develops. She is off out again with her boyfriend. She has been suitably chided and is contrite. Luckily she had all her protective gear on so only her pride hurt. Boyfriend has promised to keep and eye on her. While riding the wave of annoyance I finally got around to reroofing my old shed so I can strip the CBF600 down in it. I have been loathed to take it to pieces outside in case I hit a snag and couldn't complete it in the one day. So I'm going to crack on with it tomorrow and get my yearly service and forks sorted.
  23. FFS Shadow went down again. She is okay but the bike is scuffed. Busted indicators and bent foot peg. I’m fighting a losing battle trying to keep her bike tidy. To fast in the wet and hit gravel going around a roundabout. I not happy with her she knows better than to take those sort of risks, just stupid. silly bloody bint I have a spare indicator lens for the front don’t know the extent of the damage to the rear as to weather I can fix it or if she needs a replacement. I have spare foot pegs. Crash bars and exhaust I can paint. Those pics are all I have. Will see the true extent when she gets home.
