I didn’t check on the satnav but the highest point is something like 1,580 amsl but that’s the military early warning post and you’re not allowed up there. However, I also went through a small village called El Berro and that’s 650m amsl; I’m guessing that the snowy bit was about 1,000m amsl. As for the coffee, I love it and it’s so much better than the instant shit that I was subjected to as a teenager in the UK. ??

Cheers mate, it was a good spin out. That building isn’t the abandoned one but another that has a hotel and restaurant in it now.

Took a gentle run up the mountains today to explore some of the small roads and tracks. Chilly at the top but always helps when the cafe is open! I’m a lucky boy as it’s 30 mins from my house and I’m also only 10 mins from the Mediterranean beaches. Tough life. ??
  4. Let me see if I can find some photos of the local knocking shop, mind you, I’ll bet he’s even been there. ???
  5. Fuck em, they’re ugly looking things close up, unless of course you come from Wales where beauty is in the eye of the beholder ??
  6. That’s the one mate, great ride up to the top and just got back down to the campsite at Salbertrand before the heavens opened.
  7. Saving up for a very special day ??
  8. I did proper fuck all today according to my wife. I cleaned the bike, went and bought some wood for the log burner, propane for the central heating and then sat down and watched some TV. I also took the dogs out walking twice today but because she came with me that doesn’t count apparently? I’d say that’s a pretty full day. I don’t plan on doing that much tomorrow as it’s a Sunday. ?
  9. That’s the seafront at the port before loads of upgrades etc. The other place you’re referring to is t empty it’s got a much higher occupancy rate than any other urbanisation. A few parts have subsidence issues.
  10. Not that many considering, it’s pretty much an old mining community so plenty of full-time locals. Many of the holiday homes are owned by the Spanish from Madrid, Albacete, Murcia City and Cartagena.
  11. There’s about 20 or so municipalities within the Murcia region that are under the lockdown but thankfully Mazarrón isn’t one of them. However to reach some of the others that are okay you’d need to cross those that are out of bounds which screws things up somewhat. It is what it is.
  12. Or if you do please take some photos and post them on here so you can be properly ridiculed ?
  13. That’s true.......they are beyond gay. ???
  14. Very popular with the gay community apparently. ?
  15. Ah see that’s why it went over my head! ?
  16. Oh yes I forgot about them. They are both on my shit list. ?
  17. Thanks gents, yep there’s some decent places to explore and we are lucky with the winter weather, it’s one of the reasons we chose this area. No very tourist orientated and great climate.
  18. Not my video but done by one of the pillion passengers from today’s little jaunt on the tarmac. Headed up to Aledo from the Mazarrón area and then back via some small caminos. Don’t let the sun fool you, it was proper chilly at the top.
  19. Bollox to that Pete, sometimes you’ve got to acknowledge the limit of your patience ????
  20. Mmmm not exactly sure, probably about 1990. She also held my car as ransom until I gave her half the equity in the house. About two months after I got it back a mate of mi e was in the passenger seat and pulled the sun visor down to find a note that said “this is my seat you bitch” ? I had to pull over as me and him nearly pissed ourselves laughing. Just for the record there was no ‘bitch’ ???
  21. When my ex moved out of our house she crushed cereals into the carpets and took the hoover, peeled all the labels off the tins of food so I had no idea what was in them and removed all the lightbulbs. She also took every stick of furniture apart from some beach chairs in the garage and a crappy old TV. Mind you, it was a small sacrifice to get her out of the house ???
  22. A couple of the blokes I go riding with down here have a friend doing it this year. He’s a privateer and it certainly takes some commitment to raise the funds, an unwavering determination to push on when the going gets tough and, of course, a shit load of ability. Keep your eye out for No84 Neil Hawker. He did it last year but had an accident that prevented him from continuing.
