No.....they were just racist fucks! The Irish used to have a strong presence there with their own pubs (think it was the Green Man in Stony Stratford) and even a Dentists surgery full of Irish dentists. I remember going there and being made very welcome.....and I asked the Dentist if they got many English going there. And he said....."We get one or two......and we make sure they get pain". I can dig it!

It was the only place that we ever experienced Racism. I remember one incident when the kids were invited to a Birthday Party, and 3 mothers were left in the outside area and not invited inside. One Welsh (my wife), one Irish, and one black woman!

I know it well.....lived there for 18 months 96/97. The place itself is pleasant and great to get around.......but the people are just fucking horrible.

Busy week ahead! It starts tomorrow with paying the rent and picking up the keys to the flat. Then get washing machine, iron, kettle, ironing board, clothes horse, sheets, towels, toys for the kids......and anything else they think of. Easily a grands worth right there! Also got to take a computer over, 2 TV's, X-Box, Office Chair, Desk, and then wait for the call from the Internet people to set up the connection. And try and get these two new sites launched to get some dosh in......cos the week after that is the first quarter's taxes to pay. Retirement be fucked!
