This is what you want Pete, you don't go far and there's hours of fun to be had on this . Plus you'll probably get 150 mpg

Bing maps will let you use OS maps for you to have a look at whats in your area
https://www.bing.com/maps/?cp=51.586827~-3.281902&lvl=13.3&style=sAbsolutely Fred, Bing maps are superb as an overview online. A printed OS map will give you a wider overall view of the area but I hardly use them now when I'm actually riding.

Nice one Bob, I've never ridden a Triumph triple , perhaps I should go and have a test ride just for the hell of it.

No rush squire
So the two main types of trail in England and Wales are shown on OS maps, that doesn't mean definitvely that they are legal but it's a good guide. They are know as 'Byways open to all traffic ' or BOAT or simply BYWAY and the others are ORPA's or other route with public access, these are more commonly known as UCR's (Unclassified County Roads).
Byways are shown on OS maps as a series of red crosses and ORPAs as a series of red dots, you can see some on this OS map of part of the Peaks.
But that best way to find out where you can ride as @Buckster and @Sir Fallsalot have said is to join the TRF (Trail Riders Fellowship) . That way you will get access to the Green Road Map which will give you lots of other information .

There's no such thing as 'ride where you want' as far as trails are concerned.

I wouldn't fancy riding on the dirt with that front tyre after the weather we've been having Bob i would describe it as gay as the tyres Pete would fit
It’s not the best mate but it was on the bike when I got it. I’m taking a leaf out of your book and using it until it’s bald

I never really got the sports bike thing myself, I did have 1993 Fireblade, but not for long, good bike but just not for me, more to biking than tearing around like a stabbed rat. I have noticed that I get slower when I am cold nowadays, I got hypothyroidism and can't deal with it like I used to.
Same here Saul , I’m surrounded by them in work but I have no interest in riding them .
The only sports bike I kept for any time was my RD350YPVS

A guy I used to know always went for sports bikes and 1-piece leathers, but he was seriously slow! I'm not a speed merchant, but when he did come on a rideout even my missus was quicker than him. Then people would take the piss out of his chicken strips and he'd get the hump and go home! I really never understood why he was drawn to sports bikes.
I blame Barry Sheen
