I will do that. I had another good listen earlier when i was repairing the crash damage she did today. The rattle sounds much worse on the video that it does in the real life. I think I am going to monitor it for now. I did clean out the sprocket cover earlier and it was full of greasy shit so now sorted but nothing in their to rattle that I could see.

She is 17 not 40/50. I'm sure we all fucked up at that age. Anyway she came home and I pretty much sorted it out, again. Indicators repaired, foot pegs swapped out. Headlight is fine, one of the cheeks around the light is scratched up but I have a plan for that. I resprayed the scratched exhaust and crash bars all back to being tidy. I cleaned out in the front sprocket cover all is good in there. Had another good listen to the rattle and it sounds much worse on the video than in real life, I tempted to leave it and monitor it to see what develops. She is off out again with her boyfriend. She has been suitably chided and is contrite. Luckily she had all her protective gear on so only her pride hurt. Boyfriend has promised to keep and eye on her. While riding the wave of annoyance I finally got around to reroofing my old shed so I can strip the CBF600 down in it. I have been loathed to take it to pieces outside in case I hit a snag and couldn't complete it in the one day. So I'm going to crack on with it tomorrow and get my yearly service and forks sorted.

She's def learning the hard way. Hope she's ok.

She is nearly at the level of @busabeast now.

FFS Shadow went down again. She is okay but the bike is scuffed. Busted indicators and bent foot peg. I’m fighting a losing battle trying to keep her bike tidy. To fast in the wet and hit gravel going around a roundabout. I not happy with her she knows better than to take those sort of risks, just stupid. silly bloody bint I have a spare indicator lens for the front don’t know the extent of the damage to the rear as to weather I can fix it or if she needs a replacement. I have spare foot pegs. Crash bars and exhaust I can paint. Those pics are all I have. Will see the true extent when she gets home.

two tier kier can help.
-
Place a screwdriver on various parts of the engine and put your ear to the handle.
-
Yes it’s a trait of owning a hyper bike
-
I will when she gets back later.
-
I would definitely pull the sprocket cover, might be something silly like a stone in there.
-
You used the f word.

I'm of a bit of a quandary what to do about it really, I can get a low mileage motor for it on Ebag for £300 to £400 and swap it over in an afternoon. In the condition it is in the bike itself is only worth £1100 to £1500 if there were no rattle. Never going to be worth paying anyone to fix it and it would not be done just like that, especially this time of year. And I can just imagine the grief and pressure I would get from Shadow if she was off the road for any period of time. While I reckon I could strip and fix whatever it is, it would not be quick and the price of Honda parts is daft. At a rough glance for a cam chain tensioner assembly is quite spendy. I have told her to keep riding and let me know if it gets any worse.

You can't , he's flounced again ............
-
And down the tone goes
-
Piece come off of the cam chain tensioner , it wouldn't be the first time it's happened on a Honda
-
Yeah, that’s what he has in mind.

That' a pity, I have always liked the look of them. Interesting small and light bit of kit. Spendy though but they look very well made in the flesh. Somebody will buy the name and outsource to some chinese factory and start banging them out ala Benelli, Reiju, Moto Morini, Fantic, BMW, KTM, Husky, and prolly many more. China will become the new Japan in time.
-
Fuck me he has set his sights low then I'm sure he could pay someone much younger and attractive to do him.
-
Will have a look for a stethoscope, good plan. I think it's coming from inside the engine casing but will have a look at the front sprocket nonetheless.
-
The problem is he wants to do you.
-
Broken tooth on front sprocket bouncing about? Stethoscope would help you, I bought one years ago from Machine Mart, saves me a lot of time. It is often hard to pinpoint rattles on a bike as the engine noise masks where the rattles are coming from.

There really is a cabal of you lot obsessed with Bum Chummery on here. No judgement, you do you
