  1. The town of Twin Lakes has little in it aside from some old cabins. The sure picked a great location with views!
  2. After passing Leadville, I came upon Twin Lakes, Colorado - home two, twin lakes. Who'd have guessed?
  3. I've got to come up with a new naming system for Ride Reports - this might get a bit tedious. Anyway, second ride of June took me up and over Independence Pass near Aspen, Colorado today. A small lake near Copper Mountain - was forzen over 2 weeks ago whjen I was last past here...
  4. I used to carry a Walther PPKS (.380) as it was a nice small weapon and easy to carry. But now, I just keep a Glock 22 in my truck and don't often carry anymore. The PPKS is just too small for my petite little hands, but is a fantastic little weapon. I keep the Glock mostly for when we're out in the hills - in case bear, mountain lions or pissed off moose start getting upset with us being in their home.
  5. YOu can still see where the trains tarcks we laid on teh video - nice! As someone said; that old station wopuld make a great home.
  6. Can't beat that! Glad she liked them - will try to post more that she can enjoy.
  7. You got me there, we have no castles at all. I have been to Spain a couple of times and really enjoyed the castles and old churches as well as the architecture in general. Fascinates me to look at old buildings and think of how they were built with no cranes, trucks, etc.
  8. Our "history" is only like 150 years as there wasn't anything here prior to that - at least nothing that white men built. And much of the history belongs to Europeans as well; for it was mostly immigrants from Europe that built these towns. Maybe I'll shoot a bunch of pics of town and post them.
  9. Thanks Moon and Pedro !
  10. That's nothing - check out our Main Street in town - an old western movie was filmed there years ago. It hasn't changed much in the last 150 years since it was built...
  11. My bike camera is a Canon EOS-T6. It fits in my tank bag so well that I just leave it there. We have loads of abandoned towns - or "ghost towns" as well call them - all over the place. This one is about a mile from my home. Lots of building foundations left but only a few complete buildings
  12. Independence Pass - the road to Aspen - just opened for the first time yesterday. Plan to hit it tomorrow afternoon if I have the time. Pics to follow.....
  13. More cabins on the way home...
  14. Rode along some National Forest fire roads on the way home. These are absolutely eveywhere in the mountains; used by the Forestry Service for fire mitigation, etc. Perfect for big adventure bikes to ride around on. Could ride them for years and still never see them all...
  15. Not able to get this close to these things very often - they're freakin' huuuuge! Their idling motors made the ground shake...
  16. Some of the ranches in the area weren't quite as prosperous. These old log cabin remains are scattered all over Colorado...
  17. Passed a ranch where the owner built some period looking homes for his ranch hands...
  18. Sunny and warm (24C) out here in the sticks yesterday, Aspens getting some leaves, so I got on my scooter and headed out...
  19. Well I'll fit in as I'm no spring chicken myself.
  20. It's not bad - ya just have to like a bit of snow - my back porch about 4 weeks ago.... That was probably our last snow of the year up here.
  21. Sounds good to me! I like to post a lot of pics about rides and view other's ride reports - so suspect that I'll be doing a bit of that here. Good luck with the sitec - I like it so far!
  22. Hello all, Earache here. I live in the mountains of Colorado - about 45 miles west of Denver - in the US. Looking forward to checking out this new forum. If anyone is headed out this way, I'd be happy to show you around on the bikes if you'd like.
