A 3,500-Mile Royal Enfield Himalayan Summer
Grasshopper replied to Hugh Janus's topic in MOTORCYCLE REVIEWS
That is a very good question... Some people get really excited about the feature, not something I use. -
I'm so weird, I love the sound of that thing.....? Wow, you have a week of cleaning ahead of you now! Crazy water crossing!!! ?
-
Very excited today.....haven't been on the bike for 5 days and it seems like a long time. Servicing is done and I'm off for a ride today. Then to add some sprinkles to the cake the LOGGING sign has been removed on the road where I almost died in the spring.....lol. So we need to go check that out...... ?
-
Wow, so is it all abandoned? I can see the old old buildings fine, but some of the buildings look like they are in great shape, the one looked like a visitor centre or something. So strange and interesting. ?? Every time I see your bike on the side stand I get side stand envy (is that a thing?) , the one on the Himalayan sucks donkey balls. ?
-
ahhhh yes, the Himalayan is not a standard bike (for these days) as it needed a valve check at 500km service and 5,000km. I should be good now till 10,000. Fairly easy to do on the Himalayan and I love working on the bike in general. ?
-
They also recommend a valve check. Then of course I also check the air filter, spark plug health, change the oil & filter, give the whole thing a cleaning, chain maintenance and this time I also had a can of orange spray paint for a splash of colour! ?

Yes, it's really easy to put up and works great, then it goes away when not needed. Way more affordable than having a garage built. ?

That was a nice story, had to laugh about the compass, mine has never worked either. ? From my experience I feel pretty much the same as the writer does. It does make the bike out to be a bit more fancy than it is, the build quality is shit really in so many ways, but for some reason it all works, most of the time and its lots of fun. ? It does surprise you as to where it can go..... Now back to the tent/garage for some valve checking....?? -
The weekend will start in the tent (aka poor man's garage) as it is Bagheera's 5000km service time. ? Looking forward to it, I enjoy working on the bike and the smell of oil and gas, can't beat it. Hopefully I will get everything done in time for a ride this weekend, but I did buy a can of orange spray paint, so I might get distracted. ?

That's hilarious, they were brand new, I just walked around for a minute before I took the pic....I can't help it I was born in a barn.....???

I wear Forma Adventure boots, they are really comfortable, and they are men's boots....because they always put pink on ladies shit, no idea why???? ? Hate pink, anyways... I wanted the Alpinestars Corozal boots as they also look good, but they were not in stock so I got the Forma's.

Nice, I like the back to top feature....that sounds a bit weird.... ?

I love this place...ok love might be a bit strong, ?? but I like the fact that it is a smaller group. I really enjoy the.....you know...the....man, I just sound silly, but the down to earthness of it all....like the title of this thread for example, where else can you go and be called a twat in your day..... I like sharing with this group and the silliness that can come about. The newest member was my invite, so I'm working it for ya @XTreme ?

Greetings from the Grasshopper! ?? Thanks for accepting my invite!

So true, I always ride with someone. Thanks for watching, it was a great spot. It will be fun to go back in the spring when the water is even higher. ?

As we begin our adventure there is a sign located at the bottom of the gravel road that reads, "If you get lost today, will anybody know?" ? A small reminder that we are entering the backcountry and you should be prepared as possible. So off we go, trusting our Royal Enfield Himalayans will keep us riding. As we travel up and up the forest rolls by and the sound of Gray Creek hangs in the mist. What more could you ask for? Bubbles, that's what, and we have those too. ?
