Poor quality content was one of the reasons. But look at the Ride Reports section.......nearly 250 Ride Reports from 6 different countries in under a year.....during a lockdown. Show me another UK based forum that can match that......there isn't one! And would you believe that some forums haven't even managed a Ride Report this year?

I know......every forum I've done ends up as an abandoned village! This wouldn't have happened if.........

Thanks Caroline......as with Ray's feedback it's much appreciated. It shows me that there are people here who like the forum, despite it's deficiencies in certain areas. I've always felt that a good community experience is the most important thing. And bear in mind we've been here less than a year so we're not the finished article.....or anywhere near it.

It was nothing to write home about Ray.......but enough to put a bad vibe across the place. But as I said, it had been coming for a while. That's why I've posted that if anybody else wants their account closed just let me know either on the forum or by PM. There's no hard feelings.....like with Clive I'll wish them well. But they need to show themselves now so we can finally put this to bed.

You gave your opinions Pedro......which was what I needed. So no apologies needed. We need to make changes otherwise we'll be going down the same road as before. And you know where that leads. Unfortunately, maybe due to Lockdowns etc, everybody has got so edgy it seems people are now getting offended over what I would see as relatively trivial things. So it has been difficult to keep a lid on things for a while......today was basically the culmination of it all. What's happened in the past isn't important now......it's what happens in the future which will determine whether this site actually has one.

I started a thread based on feedback I'd had and it degenerated into a mess Keith. It culminated with Clive asking for his account to be deleted unfortunately. I'm sorry to see him go cos he was here at the start.....but because of GDPR I have to delete accounts and all data when requested.

Just to update you that Clive has asked for his account to be deleted which I've done! If anybody else wants their account deleted then just update me in this thread, or PM me, and I'll obviously carry out their wishes.

It was meant to help improve things....not make things worse. Yet one person has already asked for his account to be deleted because of it. People have left, others have asked for their accounts to be deleted, while others who were on here fairly regularly are no longer visiting. Now here's the reality......I started this a year ago due to the lockdown. We kept going against all odds, but it seems things are going the same way as they did in the past. Nobody can say I didn't try......there's no no shame in trying and failing. But ultimately it's the community itself that will determine whether it succeeds.....I can only do so much.

The engine in the G Series is Rotax design, licensed to BMW to produce & modify with BMW redesigned parts manufactured in multiple countries and assembled in China. Those are the facts!

Rotax still make the parts for it Ian......that model history spanned over 20 years.

Not for general distribution to other manufactures such as Aprilia etc.....that's correct. Because BMW bought the rights to it. I'm still waiting for your proof that it is a Loncin engine (not Rotax/BMW) with Chinese parts?

It is a Rotax engine which BMW bought the rights to. BMW own that engine as such. Components were produced in Austria for BMW only and then shipped to China for assembly. There are no Chinese made parts in there. If you look at a parts catalogue you'll see that the engine components have the same reference numbers to the earlier F series.....no difference whatsoever. Because it's the same engine!

No.....because they discontinued that motor for general distribution and BMW bought the rights to it......lock, stock, and barrel. Assembly by Loncin (previously Kymco) and BMW allow Loncin to use that motor in their China only model. They have no permission to sell it elsewhere. And that model goes for huge money there because it's a BMW engine....originally Rotax.

You won't see much of me till later on in the day tomorrow as I've got to take the wife to one of the Hospitals in Granada. I say "one of" cos there's about 20 of them in the city.........it's a drawback of living in a third world country you know! It's a 320km round trip and I'll be leaving the house at 7am for a 9.30am appointment. Hopefully I'll be back by 3pm, but that's not fixed as I've no idea how long the tests will take. So my question is who should I leave in charge while I'm not here?
