Nice one Bob, I've never ridden a Triumph triple , perhaps I should go and have a test ride just for the hell of it.

Cheers Bob. This one is different from my previous Triumph triples, but it sounds very similar. I've loved the sound of the triples, ever since I saw a guy at college on a 750 Trident, back in 1975! 😉😂😂

Excellent Bob! Can you get access to the Castle?

And Dunlop are shit......remember them on the CB?

Don't forget to change your bike and avatar in your profile!

Cheers Pete. Yes, you can get up to the castle, but it's a bit of a climb! 😂😂😂

Yes, I'm not a fan of those Dunlops!

  3. I've been past the Château Quéribus a few times, but never took the road up to it, so I thought that it would be a nice little run on the new bike.

I headed around the Narbonne northern ring road as usual and took my normal route up and across past the Abbaye Fontfroide. It was slightly cloudy when I set off, but it was blowing a hoolie! On the road past Fontfroide I was getting knocked about by the wind and I did seriously consider calling it a day and head back home, but I decided to persevere and carried on.

I turned off that road at Thézan-des-Corbières and headed west. The wind was now behind me, so it wasn't so much of a problem then.

I was trying to get tuned into the new bike, which rides and handles quite different to the Scrambler. I noticed also that the Michelin Anakee's on it don't tramline like the Dunlops did on the Scrambler. The ride is also more plush on this bike, but it holds its line pretty well through the twisties.

My route took me through Durban-Corbières,  Villeneuve-les-Corbières and Tuchan,  so I passed by the Château d'Aguilar before turning off and heading up the gorge near Padern and then on to Cucugnan, where the turning up to the Château Quéribus is.

The road twists up the side of the hills there before you reach the road that takes you up to the castle carpark. The road up to the carpark is pretty narrow and there's a couple of nice, tight hairpins up there.

The carpark was not too busy, so I stopped for a couple of pictures and then went down the same access road. I stopped at the junction of the main road for a coffee from my flask that I'd taken with me. The wind was howling across there and I ended up wearing more coffee than I drank. I was fearful of the bike getting blown over too, so I decided to just head back by the same route and save further exploration for some less windy days!

I was pleased how the bike felt and performed. I was starting to get tuned into it by the return journey.

Greyhound, with Tom Hanks in charge of a war ship during WW2, it’s good.

Tetris, about the fight for the rights for Tetris, it blew me away what an adventure it was.

    Greyhound is a good film.

I've not seen Tetris, but my ex brother-in-law was involved in coding the game for Mirrorsoft, when it was first released. I need to watch the film to see if his version of events matches the film.

  6. I reckon it's Pete's wife. It's all part of his plan.

Pete: Look love, I asked on the forum who's the person stood behind me and encouraged me to press on with the forum, and they all said it's you!

Pete's missus: oh, that's lovely. Why don't you go and buy yourself a new motorbike?

Pete: oh, well, if you insist, love.

This is all part of his game plan! He's so transparent you could read a newspaper through him! 😂😂😂😂

  7. Went to a spring fair at a local vineyard earlier, but we didn't hang around too long because it was too hot in the sun. 29C here this afternoon. BBQ tonight, but we'll probably not sit outside for too long, as the mozzies are also about!

Are they just trying to get the car testing stations to do them?

Here in France the testing stations are independent from garages, they purely do the tests and nothing else. And, yes, they are trying to get the current stations for cars to do bikes too. Some testing stations have said that they simply won't do bikes, because they don't have the staff available to train. It's a mess!

Coupled with this, the government haven't set a price for the tests, so those stations that will do bikes can charge pretty much what they want!

  10. So, the Controle Technique (CT) for motorcycles comes into force in France from 14 April 2024. In true fashion it has been poorly implemented. Many test centres have not trained their testers on the bike roadworthiness tests. Bike specific test equipment has not been identified, let alone installed in the test centres! Many of those testers that have been trained are complaining that they're worried about dropping bikes or not being able to get heavier bikes onto the testing platforms unaided.

Although the French government are trying to justify the tests on safety grounds, one section is what they call the Nuisance tests, which include measuring the noise and exhaust emissions on the bikes. And it seems that the noise limits proposed are pretty tight!

Obviously, bike groups are up in arms about this and are calling for a boycott of the tests. However, some insurance companies are saying that they will insist on seeing a pass certificate from the CT before insuring a bike. This has also incensed the bike groups, as this is not required for getting car insurance!

Anyway, lots of protests have been called for today (13 April) by the bike groups and I think that it's pretty inevitable that there will be things getting torched and possibly punch-ups with the police!  I'll be watching the news with interest!

OK, cool. Some of the earlier era ELO stuff. A good collection of tunes there! I kinda went off them after Out of the Blue.

Love ELO, i was first introduced to them by a guy i used to have a lift to work with when i was around 17, he had one of those massive canal barge Citroens and used to have ELO playing all the time, but it wasn't until years later i found out i really liked them after i was playing some random music in the background and one of their albums came on and i recognised it from then. One of the most played albums in my car when i'm out now.

    Which album is it, Fred?
