The following year the other manufacturers had caught on ( 2022) with the track length...all of the big bore sleds had a similar models running...Cat had the mountain cat 1000 triple...but those were the last years of the triple..like dinausor they went extinct not long after...mostly cause of the front end weight...compared to a twin...
-
Video and/or a timing slip or it didn't happen.
-
It does depend to some extent on the point at which the bike is able to produce max power, because it will be a specific rev range, and the riders ability to keep it in that max power band whilst working up through the gears…tho if it’s 0-60 yours prob easily does that in first gear
-
It’s good stuff when done right with just salt. A nice salad, corn bread, chilled crisp wine, I’m missing it.
-
I can only imagine what kind of bullshit story Rich going to come up with...that his busa is faster off the line than a sled...lol.
-
Lol...im agreeing at 100% .. Anyway the sled had at the time...I was low on 140 ish hp...actually had 163 hp...
-
It always depresses me how poor a choice of fish we get here in most places. The supermarkets have cod, salmon, mussels and two or three other things whereas you go to a shop in France or elsewhere in Europe and they have a choice of 25 things half of which I’ve never seen before. I just buy stuff at random when I’m there, just to try it. I do love sardines or sea bream cooked on a grill.

Sofia’s got a kitchenaid that would destroy that Busa as well. It’s orange!
-
@busabeast...by the way...my 2001 snow machine would have destroyed your busa ...
-
Went to the market today, to buy some grouper for dinner tonight. Took pictures while waiting for my fish because I know @boboneleg appreciates a nice market. A nice looking conger, I had to look up the name as we call them Safio. Black swordfish from the deepest waters of Madeira, and mackerels: Sardines are great this year, sadly too smelly to cook inside at home and ray
-
No that was because it was you not because of your sled
- Today
-
It had these self adjusting carburetor for any altitude change...was pretty high tec for the time...it was called DPM by ski-doo..no need to mess with jets...
-
Quarter miles definitely ...don't know if you seen snowmobiles run on tarmac...those things are crazy fast...
-
Might be faster than a Hayabusa
-
Anyway...that thing would launch like 4 sled lengths before the other were barley moving out of the hole...it had 136 inch track with 1.5 inches..full block track ( had the track changed to a full block design ).it was branded has a summit 800...I pulled out a pic on the net...sure i have actual pictures of it somewheres You can see the actual difference in track length compared to that polaris next to it..
-
At the time all major manufacturers were running triple cylinders sleds..artic cat had the thunder cat 1000..ski-doo had the mach z triple...polaris the 800 storm triple ...Yamaha had the 700 srx triple.. Ski-doo broke the mold by going with a twin...everyone figured a 800cc twin two stroke was just not physically possible at the time..has it wouldn't be reliable for trail riding...400cc pistons spinning at high rpm..
-
The ultimate sled....lol. It was a 2001 ski- doo 800 cc twin..think pushing out 140 hp. It was a limited run machine made to promote the following year machine who would be called the Renegade... Back then all trail machines ran a shorter track length..this was the first year a 136 inch track was introduced ...and it blew everything off the trails...ski-doo put the works into this machine..to clutchs ..engine..everything was top notch...I learned of this model coming out...through my dealer where I bought countless machines from..we are actually good friends and at time would ride together...there was only 1 machine per dealer available and had to be pre-ordered with a deposit...
-
Anyway for 2001 season...it was the fastest 1/ 4 mile sled in my neck of the woods...guys would scatter like rats when I pulled up on the lacs for runs...lol..they be all saying...ffs not him again...lol
-
Hey I want to tell you about the last sled I owned before giving up on the sport....should I continue in the gibberish thread ?
-
I’m sure you won everything, you and Rich are the forum experts on everything.
-
I smoked those two polaris by the way...lol ..that was the finals...600 cc stock machines. Grew up in hay days of snowmobiles...my father was habit enthusiast....every weekend almost..drag racing events all over the province..winter time...he was never into motorcycles thoe...he race one winter for the factory team snowjet on oval track...71 or 72....just before his 160 foot plunge...
-
You can see how they converted it to what you ride now.
-
Yeah it does have a habit of drying out abit
-
Some more old pictures...not sure who exactly took this picture of me on the open road... my twins sitting on the bike ..think the bike was only a few days old... Me in the Gaspe peninsula. Was always involved in some type of motorized sport...summer or winter... Me at a snowmobile drag event ..on the red sled.
