  1. What with storm Ciara and then Domingo the atlantic depressions and the shitty weather they generate here, despite being 500 kilo;eters inland fro; the atlantic, were causing my own minin depression so I said " merde!" to it and profiting from an easing of the wind and rain, geared up and went for  ride.

I actually managed to dodge most of the rain, though not al of it, and rode on either bone dry windswept roads or half flooded windswept roads having arrived after the deluge. In fact, it was all so windswept that I have a windswept hair look INSIDE my helmet...🤪

I managed to do 140 ish km mostly around the backroads. I took a couple of pics while it wasn't raining.

  2. shit weather here at the moment, been hammering with rain and blowing a bloody hooligan since wednesday evening. I had planned on going toTroyes on wednesday ( bank holiday) but it would have been foolish to be out on a bike in what they forcast for the evening and I coulsn't have got home before the eastern edge of the depression reached us so I cancelled. Still blowing hard today so no riding either. hoping it will have blown through by tomorrow so i dont have to spent the entire weekend inside.

  3. I did manage to get out for a couple of hundred km this afternoon, I rode the back roads up north as far as Nanteau sur Lunain ( long story...)  had a coffee in the local boulangerie / café and a chat with the owner and then took the route nationale home. Weather was shit, windy with rain showers. I got the first rain shower about an hour into the ride and though my gear is water proof the temps dropped with the arrival of the rain so I pulled over at a bus shelter to add the thermal liner to my jacket. Heated grips and new winter gloves bought in Dijon last week, made the rest of the day positively bearable.

Great wee bus stop, complete with free library! DSC06678.thumb.JPG.41620254ef67dee56de25a73d0a6b7b5.JPG

Love that road, but you're welcome to adjust it if you want. As long as it's this month and horizontal I don't care what you do with it.

I don't get how your bike doesn't get dusty on that, if it was mine on that dirt road it would look like it had just finished a Dakar stage :classic_laugh:

Probably cos im a complete arse off road so i ride reeeeeally slowly…

  5. I haven't submitted anything to BOTM for a while cos all the rules about size and shape and post production and when and where and how and who meant that  you basically have to take a photo specifically with that in mind. I don't.

This one happens to be the right shape, I don't have photoshop  and I don't think I made any adjustements to this one before saving it.

Put some wine in there too.

I really should take the GS to the Eifel in Germany. See a few friends, do a few laps of the track just cruising around, I’ll try to do it next year. If it happens I do plan to stay for two or three night near you so we can do a ride around those roads you keep posting about, plus a proper dinner or two.

It’ll be planned, so @boboneleg, I’ll keep you up to date if it happens.

    cool.

Mrs Moon works in Chablis so soe half decent wine should'nt be too difficult.  If you prefer Red, Chity, St Bris or Coulanges are all within 10 km's so that's ok too 👍

    Nice one Chris!

Looks like that road could get a bit iffy if it gets covered by wet leaves.

"iffy"? ... that's part of the art to riding these roads, definately already Iffy in places.

  9. the twins had friends round, they actally slept over but as they didn't arrive till after the ice rink closed at midnight I was snoring loudly when they got here. We have a tiny house and I'm A-social at best so I was up and breakfasted before they emerged from their lair, just took the time to say Bonjour and the ran away fro the day with a packet of sandwiches and a flask of coffe, abandoning Mrs MooN to her fate...

I left at 11 and, knowing the horrers were due to leave at 4.30, arrived back at 4, just in tame to say Au revoir...

    in the meantime

285km, blissfully solo. weather was 15 down to 10degc mostly sunny with about 5 minutes of rain around Moulins Engilbert.  I stopped and ate my sarnies at the church in Glux en Glenne and made use of the relatively well maintained public lav that I knew to be there.

Big bonus of the day was the backroad through from Chateau Chinon to Glux via le haut Folin which had just been resurfaced like they were expecting the tour de France at any minute. Only photos I took were along there

Im rather proud of myself this evening, finished a long term project restoring a “Louis Philippe” wardrobe ( 1840 ish) that belonged to wifes grandfather and had been left to fester in an outhouse. I’m not a cabinet maker or restorer but i reckoned i could make it useable again and possibly nice looking even.

The photos are probably fkin hooge, sorry, no access to poota just mow.IMG_4132.thumb.jpeg.3cb752fab4e34687528081cb49419920.jpegIMG_4134.thumb.jpeg.52bdb47b07b279344cc06df074c006c3.jpegIMG_4139.thumb.jpeg.4286ffb93829b6b2b380698d3fa2cdd6.jpegIMG_4138.thumb.jpeg.6203f6f178903a1e9cc5241c4c39b5ea.jpegIMG_4141.thumb.jpeg.d33dfab738fb4eb29128212f2bb7a1c8.jpeg

Do you have suspension adjustment? On my bike having it soft helps a lot of difference even in smooth grippy ground.

Very limited adjustable rear shock, its a pain in the arse to adjust.
