  1. Roadside park had a cool water feature that looks like it used to generate electricity at one point in time...
  2. It actually got hot as we headed for Maine - about 84F / 29C, so Todd had to shed a few layers at a roadside park ...
  3. A Cog Railway at Mount Washington, New Hampshire. Climbs the hill for a fee - we didn't do the ride though ...
  4. Vermont, New Hampshire and into Maine all in one afternoon. Thanks to very small States....
  5. I'm in Bangor, Maine tonight and have right at 2,700 miles so far. Has been fun!
  6. A few more random pics; Ski jump at Lake Placid where they held the 1980-ish Olympics Some others....
  7. Yes! Sunny skies and a high of about 75F / 24C so it was nearly perfect. Expecting it to be a bit hotter today.
  8. Arrived at our hotel around 8:15 PM and sought out a place for dinner. Only to find that most places close at 8:00 por 9:00 PM. Our only option was the bowling alley down the street. I can't describe how bad that place was. Hopefully something better today will pop up as we cross into Maine. More later.....
  9. Highlight of the day was in Essex, New York where we crossed the lake into Vermont. What a cool little town with great stone buildings from the 1830's dominating the local architecture. Ferry ride was nice as well...
  10. Lunch was wholly forgettable at a small roadside café. Had a cool semi-circular bar but that was about it...
  11. Sunday we crossed New York and rode through the Adirondacks. What a let down. The "mountains" are like the "Peaks" in the Peak District - so they're not mountains at but rolling hills. Lots of traffic and kinda crappy little towns we passed through. I won't be back. Did see a cool beach on Lake Ontario though...
  12. We're not sure that the battery was the problem but since replacing it the problem has not surfaced again. But it could only be a matter of time......
  13. That sump hole looks painful. But good result on the field repair.
  14. Today we are done with the shitty highway riding and into the better stuff in the Adirondacks. Hope to get some good riding pics and more interesting stuff to see and do. More later .......
  15. Then Todd orders Brussel sprouts and a sausage for his dinner. Who the fuck does that? Things smelled like burnt ass ....
  16. After Dave's bike took a shit on the highway and stopped dead (dash error said "key low" which we assumed was the battery in the key fob being dead) we stopped for a few on the side of the road. The bike finally restarted and ran well for the last 30m miles to the hotel in Rochester, New York. Bought a new battery for it, so we'll see. We made it to the hotel and had every intention of going out for a nice dinner someplace. Never got past the hotel bar though....
  17. Friends and a not so friendly gull ...
  18. After Zanesville, Ohio, we were on the highways for rest of the day. But we did stop on the shore of Lake Erie to visit the beach for a minute. Cold (55F) but there were still peeps on the sands....
  19. Stopped at a local fuel station and they sold race gas in 5 gallon containers. Dunno what the Amish do with race gas but it looked to be a big seller....
  20. So Saturday we had to cover about 600 miles from Athens, Ohio through Pennsylvania and into New York. We were greeted by wet and cloudy roads in Ohio as we covered the back roads north to Zanesville, Ohio. Lots of Amish buggies on the roads and lots of the associated horse shit as well, which in the rain can be very slick as you well know.
  21. Weather has totally sucked so far. But supposed to be nicer today. Yesterday had nice skies in the afternoon but cold. Should be better now.
  22. Today, Saturday, we head for Rochester, New York. Hoping for nicer weather and better pics along the way....
  23. Food sucked badly tonight, so no pics for @Pedro, pretty horrible family restaurant with a cute bartender. Got a substantial amount of Stella down my neck though so it wasn't a complete loss....
  24. The rain quit as we walked to dinner and exposed a cool rainbow. Hoping this means better weather today...
  25. On to our hotel for the night - why do our rooms always look like a shit bomb went off in them 5 minutes after our arrival?
