  1. Tomorrow, Thursday, I begin the ride back to Colorado, Will take 2 days to get there and I'll overnight in Columbia, Missouri at Todd's house - he's the guy on the Ducati that I often take trips with. We'll drink too much and plan our trip to Canada later this summer.

Might get out around town today and get some pics of the area....

  2. I saw these tiny homes under construction in Kentucky. I'd need two of these in my backyard as I have a sister-in-law to house as well as a friend of ours that's going to need somewhere to live. Should be easy enough to knock a couple of these out in short order. Gotta see if zoning would allow it though....

  3. Gas light was on again when I stopped for fuel. I looked it up and the bike actually holds 5.25 US gallons - not 4 as I was told. Still, the light comes on when it has used 4 gallons so I guess the rest is considered reserve. Still, shit capacity / range  for a tour bike...

    No update from @Earache yet?

I haven't been doing too much, really. Yesterday, I rode from Ohio to Moorhead, KY and had lunch with my old college roommate.

550 miles round trip and didn't take too many pics at all. Was a fun ride though, cursing through the hills of Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky....

I have to remember it’s there as I can’t feel it and remember that speed limits are 10mph less than posted in 60 and 70 areas.

How much weight do you haul in it? Show us  a pic of it fully loaded if you can,

Is it just the fuel range that puts you off or is there other stuff as well

Range is one thing but the bike is just too small for me physically. I sit too far forward and there's not shit for leg room. ADV bikes are better built for me as far as size goes.

Wings are made for small guys - around 5'8" or so.

This could be the one that puts me right up there with Ewan and Charley! And it's going to be coming up........weather

The rest of you back there can stand down! Stick to Boxhill, Matlock Bath, and Abergavenny Bus Station......this shit is way beyond your level!

    Pffft, that's rookie shit.

I really like Wings for some reason, the only one I've ever ridden was a GL in 1978 but it has stayed with me, there's something about them.

They're not so bad and have their place. But I don;t think I'd buy another one.

  9. Dinner was burgers at a local spot last night - nothing spectacular there.

Had a bourbon barrel aged beer with dinner. Worst shit I ever had. Trendy beer with a weird flavor of honey, vanilla and bourbon. 11% alcohol was nice though.

Since they messed up our order, we got a free round of the same beers. So I had to drink 2 of these crap beers. $12 a bottle too - not worth it.

You must be spending a fortune on fuel with the Wing?

I'm surprised that a bike that's specifically designed for touring is so thirsty!

I don't really care about the costs - it's just a pain to have to stop so often.

I think maybe they're made for older guys who don't ride at higher speeds that affect the mileage so much. Can't think of any other reason why it'd have such a small tank and limited range.

  11. But, made it to Indy and stopped to see my buddy Clint. The Ferrari that we brought back from Texas last year is going to paint this week. Then he'll do the final assembly in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to see it done ...

When do you expect to reach Ohio?

Just wheeled into Indianapolis . Destination i9n Ohio is only 4 hours away so that'll be easy.  Tonight is gonna be tough - out to dinner and drinks with my buddies here in town for the night.

    4AM start? That's brutal!

Nah - normal waking hours for me. It's 4:15 AM now as I'm headed out the door.

Horrible rains storms here last night - hope the bike didn't float away!
