We are comfortably warm now, it just takes quite a time to get the bungalow up to the comfy temperature.......the blurb that comes with the boiler says its fuel (gas) efficient, we will judge that when the next gas bills comes.
Modern condensing boilers are in part more efficient because the output temp ( to your rads) is lower than with the non condensing type, so you are absolutely right that the rads prob don’t get as hot as with an older boiler. You can alter the output temp yourself, at least you can on mine, but the higher you make it the less efficient the thing will be.Â

What a pretty street. Looks like a perfect winter scene.
I’m sitting in front of a log fire with my feet up in the log cabin in the right of the picture as I type this. No northern lights outside at the moment though.Â

Well the fifth horseman of the apocalypse has gone home, should be landing in about an hour. Haven’t seen anything on the BBC news about a Virgin Atlantic plane being forced to divert by a passenger overloading all the toilets so looks like all is good.
Meanwhile I have escaped to north of the artic circle for some skiing, snow mobiling, possibly ice fishing, and to single handedly eat an entire reindeer within 6 days. I absolutely love this place.Â

That better not be real, why the fuck am I paying taxes for a one person population explosion. A condition of whoever it is receiving those benefits should be sterilisation.Â

Get a chinky diesel heater, run it on red diesel.
ÂThey are about £100 and even come with a remote control. I can fire the thing up an hour before I go out there and it’s lovely and toasty. I’m contemplating getting a used steel rad on Facebook marketplace and running the exhaust through it. Just waiting for rip out a tall thin one locally that I can get cheap.Â

I’ve not ridden a bike for a month. Just haven’t had time with relative care, not even been to work much.Â

i thought Horsham was a well to do type of place.
I grew up in West Sussex, never thought of Horsham as anything other than middle class daily mail reading Tory land.Â

I had a warning lite pop up on my dash a couple of weeks ago, took it in to the dealer today and they say “it needs a new battery management thingy. We need the car for 3 days to do it. “. It’s 4 years old and out of manufacturer warranty ( I have an after market warranty from honest johns car sales which probably isn’t worth the paper it’s written on).Â
ÂSigh, ok, when can you do it. We have to order the part from Sweden sir, it’s covered under warranty and we will give you a loaner car for the three days. Can’t remember the last time I was so pleasantly surprised by a car dealership.Â

Got the bungalow nice and warm (ish) and now the window installation guy is here, he opened all the windows and patio doors now it's like a fridge in here. That's a fiver wasted.
Â
With the fifth horseman of the apocalypse here ( mother in law) I’m having to run the bloody heating 24/7 and the log burner all day. She’s always bloody cold.Â
I didn’t look at the meter for the first 6 weeks but the utility company have kindly emailed me to tell me my direct debit which used to cover the gas and power is now woefully behind. By the time she clears off I will probably have been able to buy another bike with the heat Ive wasted warming the place up.Â-

I've been out and about today for work . Took forks to a place in Dorchester for anodising, then onto Poole to collect some storage fuel and then Frome on the way back to get parts . Very foggy out there today , lots of twats driving at 35mph on main roads with no lights on
Nice and sunny now that I'm back in the workshop
I was in Bournemouth today, looking at a couple of roofs, but the weather was ok. Always lots of morons crawling along in Dorset.Â
ÂWe have a live in carer arriving tomorrow for MiL as she appears to be deteriorating. The chances of her going back to the US seem to be receding :(. This has been a pretty shit month.Â

Bloody hell, I’m a rank amateur  compared to some of you lotÂ
I’m a bit curious how you can get points without even having a licence?Â

6, they all come off later this year which I’m looking forward to.Â

I have a few points on my licence so 240 for both is a miracle.Â

Who was that with Nute, i have 4 bikes on a multi bike policy cost less than £400 but cant remember who i took it out with, i got the Beta on a separate policy and that's the only one i can find, that's the trouble with doing it all on line i will have to wait until the renewals come in to find out who it was with LOL.
Â
Went through one of the comparison sites originally, can’t recall which one but the policy is with Principal Insurance. Not a company I’d come across before but then there are loads I’ve never heard of on the comparison sites.Â
Âjust checked my emails and their number is 03300241358. That’s the renewals dept but I’m sure they could help.

When I bought my MT09 eighteen months ago the insurance cost was around £850. I did discuss putting it on a multi bike policy with my Indian when it renewed last year but they made it so complicated and turned out just as expensive and I didn’t bother. They recently emailed me with the renewal cost for the Indian and then 10 mins later with a quote on the Yamaha, which isn’t due until Sept.
ÂI called them to ask why the second quote and after some prevarication they came back to admit they had dropped a bollock and we’re about to renew both on a multi bike and cancel the existing Yamaha policy without my instructions and if I hadn’t called it would have just gone through automatically. They then offered to go with the multi bike for both, total cost just over £240 fully comp. The Indian alone was £450 last year.Â
ÂI didn’t question anything, just paid there and then. Confirmation arrived by email 15 mins later which a carefully checked for errors, all ok, yay!

I don't want to add to your joy too much, but that's your wife in the future.
My wife is fit as a butchers dog, if I had to put more than 20p on which one of us would be a dribbling vegetable first I’d be backing me.Â

Well she is American so she knows what she is talking about, you should be grateful for her sharing her extensive knowledge with you.Â
She certainly isn’t short of opinions. I have to keep reminding myself that a lot of this is her dementia talking, but it’s bloody hard.Â
ÂOur new dog has been a joy throughout this living purgatory, I think he’s the only think keeping us sane.Â

I'm sure she could get permission to stay on compassionate grounds so you can be her permanent carer.
I doubt she would want to. She views this country as some sort of third world state. On being discharged from hospital she asked if we could arrange for her to see some proper doctors, apparently those who treated her inc the nursing staff ( who were brilliant), weren’t qualified as they came from all sorts of weird countries.Â
