You're going to be driving on Xmas Day Michelle?
Yep, not sure exactly where I will be on the day but I will be driving. It is kind of fun travelling during the holidays. I’ve never done it, so there’s that, but everything is a bit more sparkling this time of year, and I like sparkles. I will also be in the snow, which is only proper during the holidays.

Today was departure day. I now have two weeks of driving across Canada ahead of me. Hoping the weather stays mellow.
It was a difficult day. As I had been living in the place where I sold my home last Spring it almost felt like I was preparing to leave all over again. Saying good bye to some folks we met and their dog was also hard, too many good byes for me this year.
Tomorrow will be better, or perhaps just less emotional. I think I am still nervous about the journey, that will also pass. Positive thinking…..

It’s my last weekend on the Coast. Departing from camp on Monday. Spending time getting the vehicles packed and adventure ready. Visiting with some friends and stopping by a few places one last time.
It’s getting hard to sleep as the excitement builds. I just want to get rolling now. I guess I will spend some more time looking at weather forecasts and practicing my French.
Have a nice weekend everyone.- 5

New shoes all around, and a spare.
The van now has tires that can drive on the highways in the winter. You can be ticketed and have to pay if you drive with the wrong tires in Canada. Plus we got our spare carrier installed and a spare purchased. Feel much better with that.
Then the 4Runner got some new All Terrain tires, some lovely Nokians. I haven’t gone far on them, but damn they are nice tires so far.

How many days do you figure before you arrive on the east coast...?
We figure two weeks, depending on weather. We depart in a week, so we should be on the east coast on or after Christmas.

Be careful when going through new Brunswick if you are using a gps.. Stick to highways... Center of the province is void.. Roads are ice.. And infested with moose...
Oh I know all about GPS and remote places. I did just spend a month in the North on one of the most remote roads in Canada. We are sticking to the TransCanada this time so I am not too worried.
Moose, all good! I have dealt with Elk, deer, bear, coyote, dogs, cats, lots of elk and deer, did I mention elk….

Thought I posted some house stuff one day on the Today thread when we were talking, good luck finding anything there after about an hour.

I wouldn't even know where to start with knitting, I think @Buckster said he was a dab hand at it though.
so where you moving to now?
I made a lovely post explaining everything, but no worries…
I am moving to eastern Canada, Nova Scotia. Driving across the country as of next week. Should be a snowy adventure!

I hope you're going to have a little rocking chair in the corner of the porch and take up knitting
Though you have a good few decades left before you become an old lady
Rocking chair for sure!!!!
Funny enough I tried the knitting thing this summer and found it very frustrating….
…. and Grandma made it look so easy!

Was wondering @Grasshopper is your new place furnished or are you going to have to go through all of those shenanigans?
It doesn’t have a thing, not even appliances. Months ago I would have been no way…. But now I am actually looking forward to getting things for the house. It will help me to get to know the new area we will be living in.
It’s also so different from my first house when I was at work more than home and had no money. This time I have lots of time and a bit of cash so it will be fun to get my old lady home ready.

Wow how do you film it all so smoothly?
I think 10 mile lake and Boya lake were my favourites.
Thanks, with lots of practice….some days it would take me a few takes to get a smooth pan, always worth the time.
I fell in love with Boya Lake this summer. We were there twice as I went back the second time to lay my Mom’s ashes to rest. I’m sure I will return again. Beautiful canoeing and to visit Mom.

I put together another video from my travels, this one highlights August. It was a good distraction while I wait to depart on my winter road trip.

Those are great signs, the first one made me giggle, but the second is so cool. I’ve never been in a place with camels running around.

Had a fun day in the snow. It was starting to look like a winter wonderland.
Then I played with my new friend, Lexi. She is a German Shepherd that lives next door and we have become friends. She waits outside the van for me to come and play. Sure has been nice hanging out with a dog, I will miss her when we leave.
Then I went for a drive and stopped at a nice Mexican restaurant for lunch.
