Dameralls & Thor Motorcycles March 2023

I haven't been out on my bike for 5 days and was feeling a little stir crazy so had to get out there.  I went up to have a look around Damerells as they always have so nice stuff to look at in stock.  My old Himalayan is  behind that lovely CRF.

Nice looking old Fireblade

They have sold several Interceptors since my last visit.  I do like the blue one.

I do like the new Hornets, I could see one of them in my future, a lot of bike for £7K.

I do like the new Triumphs.

No shortage of Gold Stars at Thors now.  Just pick your colour.

Nice little Beta Alp, 200cc of fun there.

New Chiefs, funny how Indian Motorcycles didn't get the cultural appropriation grief that Exeter Rugby Club got, given their Logos are near identical.  Not suggesting they should just observing.

I wish these Mash X-Cross bikes were better quality as I think they look the mutts nuts.

Great shots Saul!

I'm always impressed by how well Damerells present their bikes, and Thor look very professional as well.

Thors Showroom is real quality, some stunning kit there and riding gear.   The owner comes across as a dodgy fucker, but is friendly enough.  I know he has messed several people around, not ripped off just messed about because he can.    I wouldn't buy a bike from him knowing what I know.   I would buy kit from there though, always reasonably priced and lots of stock.

Damerells is a great place, love it there.

Is the Mash bad quality? I haven’t seen one up close but I have seen one running around Edinburgh and it looks decent.

I have read several bits about rust, dodgy electrics and poor fuelling.  Don't know the context of that just what I have read.

That’s a shame, there are no mid weight singles like this anymore and the Mash looks the part and seems to have decently beefy forks and looks solid.

I agree I think it looks great and has real potential, let down by by electrics and finishing.   Could be so much more, I believe the styling is French but the build is chinese, similar to what Morini is doing.

The problem with the Moto Morini is that it is trying to be a Moto Morini.

Didn't a chinese company buy the name  and build a styling house in Italy to produce for the Italian market?  I remember reading about it ages ago but it didn't really sink in.  I know they have sold a shed load of bikes on the Italian Market. They do look good in the flesh.  There are loads of them up at Thors but it's just a brand name for more generic Chinese bikes to me.    Only the badge bears any resemblance to the old 3 1/2 and 500.

The Dr I am working with on Friday night is a Morini owner and has run several 3 1/2's for years, now just as a hobby but she did use them for real in the 1970's and 80's.    She is not the tallest of people and their size was what drew her to them originally.  Mind you she makes the point that a generic chinese clone would probably prove more reliable that her Italian Morinis did.   She had many problems back in the day.  Very interesting lady to work with, loads of tales to tell.

You don’t get anything Italian because it is reliable, wether that be cars, bikes or women.
