Here's a photo of an English Electric diesel locomotive in Preston station in the early 1980's. Apparently it was scrapped only a few years later.

But this particular one has a very unusual claim to fame (or even infamy) for something.......anybody tell me what that is?

From what I can remember as a kid they were all noisy as fuck!

I accompanied my old man when he used to drive them a few times and when you walked between the cabs front and rear you were squeezing past that huge engine no wonder the old man is a bit deaf lol
And you were not a kid when they were around but i was LOL

Diesels were running in the 60's Fred.....I think most of the Steam Locos were gone by 1965.

Hmmm think you'd better rethink the few years off becoming a fossil....he's definitely old enough to be a dinosaur.

many years ago my folks took me to see the flying scotsman at preston station and the place was packed
